I'm wondering, since we are all Ladies and Gents of high moral fibre, do we need a new thread:
"Please do not bid on my Ebay find" ????
This seems to work on another board I subscribe to.

Man. At $399, no wonder it was only one bid.
Still, I have only ever seen one Three Way on ebay in years.
Though I've seen the triangular shaped box about 50 times.

Edit to say, I doubt who ever bought it will even get his $399 back out of it if he tried to sell it, but I do have to admit it is a rare bird.

Chocolate Brown Royal Stetson

Won this auction last week for a Royal Stetson. Based on the price on the tag and the plastic liner, as well as the information in this thread (specifically post #24 from Brad), I figured the hat lands somewhere between '49 and '56. I didn't put too much stock in the description, but since it looked like a quality vintage hat, I felt it was worth it for the price.

After waiting for about a week for it to arrive, I got the hat in the mail. The date range seems good for the hat, and the thing that blows me away: I think the seller is right. I don't think this hat has ever been worn. The felt has that good feel for a 50s hat, but it has the stiffness of a new, hardly worked-over hat. The sweatband is a little stiff--I should probably run some treatment into it--but that's not too surprising for a hat that hadn't been worn. Overall, though, this hat is tremendous shape. It's a brand-new 60 year-old hat.

SCOTT & CO. Any info?

I had been watching this for a week & finally succumbed to my weakness.
Auctioned as a "Derby", it seems to pretty clearly be an open crown (looks unworn, or near) fedora/trilby.
Looks to be quite a thin, fine felt, looking at the brim's raw edge. Looks just as thin & fine of some mid century Borsos I have seen.

I could find out quite little of the company other than in was, at one time, among the finest in England, meaning among the finest in the world.
"By appt. to HER Majesty" dates it as post '52 anyway. I could not find record of the firms demise.
It looks like a sweet piece of felt & just what I need ANOTHER gray hat/black ribbon duo!
But it seems to represent a rare (wearable) larger size in a relatively uncommon brand.

Who can tell me about Scott & Co.?

Royal find, Aaron. To think of all the history that hat missed out on by NOT being worn!

Rick, good job ferreting out that beauty from the rest of the "Mod, Hippie, Disco" hats in eBay's pile. I bet that one conforms to your noggin like it's been waiting decades for just that opportunity.
