Intriguing dressy narrow ribbon older Cavanagh.

Also intriguing - old Canadian Stetson.

Thanks much! This Resistol has garnered a lot of positive attention in its few days in my possession, so far. It really resonates with me. I don't think I'd prefer to go any stingier than that, however.

I have a habit of bidding on hats that I am curious about, so I'll be notified how much it sold for at the end. I just like to get an idea how much certain hats are worth. My size is also hard to find in vintage hats, so I was interested how high the bidding would go on this one. Imagine my surprise when, after a 7 day auction, no one bid against me and I got this Biltmore for $30:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...PageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:US:3160#ht_7811wt_1386

Stetson Silverbelly? with Horsehair Braid

First post, new member. With that out of the way, this was on ebay and the ad said "Men's or lady's hat". Don't know how you get a woman's hat out of this! It's a 4x Beaver, no model number inside. I assume that the hatband is real horsehair. Terrific hat! Fit my 7.5 inch melon pretty well (tight on forehead, loose on sides). Anyone know the model? I assume that this is a silverbelly color. Thanks!

The $28.00 economy shipping may have scared off some bidders.

But, it looks like eBay has been slow with sellers and buyers the last week, at least the vintage hats category.....that is to say the "authenic" vintage hats.

I won a Stetson straw last week that I didn't expect to get for my bid.

I put hats I'm just curious about in my 'watch' list along with the ones I want to bid on and don't have to place a bid....still shows time left with auction and at the end how many bids and selling price, also, relisted or not.

I check in on this list once or twice a week.

Congratulations, If I had seen it, I probably would have bid against you. I happy that you got it a such a good price. Hats in our size sell for such a premium over some of the smaller sizes.

I, too, looked at your hat, Blackthorn, but I couldn't decide what I was seeing in that line inside the crown of the hat and decided against the purchase. Well, that and I just won the Resistol fedora and knew I would have to do some fast talking to SWMBO when two hats showed up within a day or so of each other. :eusa_doh:

Oh and I should add, nice score and I hope it turns out to be a terrific lid!

Neither is mine . . .

I figured a Dobbs Fifty would pull a LOT more than $30 (shipped): auction link. Was the brim too wide?

I hoped this old Borsalino Misto would attract a lot less attention: auction link. It's a beautiful hat and worth its bid, but not worth that much to me.

Randooch, sorry for the confusion. I didn't buy the one in the picture. With a price tag of nearly $600 I could buy new tires for my suburban instead. I was saying that the hat in the picture is what I'd like to have, but I refuse to pay that much!

Thank you, gentlemen, I'm not sure what to expect from this hat, either. The large sum for shipping is because it's coming from Canada, I guess.
