I have an Ebay question for you pros...

I recently had a person bid very high on a hat that I had for sell (basically revealing the second highest bidders limit) and then send me a message that they had messed up playing with their smart phone and could they retract the bid. I replied that ebay allowed bid retractions. The next day (many hours later) they retracted the bid and the price went back down to where it was before their bid. I of course am worried that the price going up two-and-a-half times what it was scared off real bidders - and also what keeps a person from doing that just to put some feelers out on somebody elses max bid?

My advice would be to add that bidder to your blocked bidder list so they can't do it to you again. Of course, that person may have multiple id's and just use a different one in the future.....l

I already blocked them. For some reason my ego doesn't handle fishy business very well so I usually react strongly unless I catch myself and pause before I react. In this case I was able to pause first so I was polite with my correspondence and later blocked them. If it's someone on the FL that made an honest mistake, please send me a PM and we can discuss it; otherwise, onward and upward...

Actually, I believe it's a UK size 6-7/8 or US size 7. I was a bridesmaid. :eusa_doh:

Does anyone have any thoughts on how old it might be? The proportions and reeded sweatband make it seem like it might be from the 50s, but the taped sweatband seam and size sticker make it seem like it might be older than that.

I bought the Optimo. Wasn't aware of the history here. Still not clear why it was made... as a gift at a Buick event? Anyway, even with a few minor flaws and in black, it was too good a value to pass up. Getting the box too is a nice bonus.

I bid on that for awhile, mainly for the box, as i don't wear black hats. Looks like a good score. Curious to see what the seller meant by the slight problem with the "back band."
