I have had a few CJ's & 1 Wrangler. I still have a 1970 Kaiser CJ5. All the parts were used or take-off's as I upgraded the OEM ones.
This is what it looks like now...

This is what I want it to look like when done...

Wish I hadn't sold this one...

Really nice Jeep....Do you plan on keeping it a while?

I sold my last C J after the top got vandalized one to many times.

I still have a 1996 Cherokee, a plain jane model, I use for hitting the beach, home depot and when i want to be a bit laid back. Although at my age now, it's not so much "hitting" the beach as it is just "going" to the beach.

Well, I haven't received my Adam (the one posted a couple pages back), and the seller has dropped off the face of the planet... I was really looking forward to getting that hat, too...

Very intriguing No.1 Quality. Thoughts?

Alan, I just got an Aussie version for its opening bid in the mail today; the brim looks like the Pacific, and it needs a ribbon, but being from Barney's NY it should be worth the investment. It is surprisingly light weight for its stiff body.

I like gamblers and have several of them. That's why I was interested in the nutria Stetson--a more domed crown to shake up my collection a bit. Will be interested in your assessment of it when it arrives (those moth holes, particularly).

I believe our knowledge base on this variant of the No.1 Quality mark describes a reissue that appeared in the 1950s with a felt quality that did not compare well to the venerable 1930s and earlier version. This hat is an interesting contradiction, with the size tag and manufacturing label dating it as mid to late 1930s. From the character of the bash, I would say this hat has some very nice felt. I didn't buy it, though I was tempted. I already have its 6 3/4 cousin - old No.1 logo, but note the similarity of textured sweatband and mid-late 1930s manufacturing label.

Has anyone seen another pre-1950 example?

(Ray, the remarks I posted on the Nutria in the Pre 1940s Stetson Western thread is after having receiving it.)

Finally received a lot of 7 hats that I won on the German ebay site (Great Seller). Took a chance as none of the hats had size tags in them but the seller measured in cm each way across the hats and it was exactly the same dimensions as across my best fitting hat. Long story, short; 5 of the 7 fit perfectly, 1 was a tad small and 1 was a bit too big. The one I really wanted fit great; a green Huckel Chavreau with a 2 1/2" brim, 5 1/2" open crown and in great condition:

It came with a virtual twin: a dark grey Huckel Special with identical dimensions:

There were also 3 borsalinos in the bunch: the brown and grey both had 3" brims while the green sports a 2" stingy with quite a bit of taper. The brown looks to be fairly recent while the grey may be from the 50's???

The Flechet has a really nice felt, thick but soft and is another 2" stingy...no idea what era it may be but guess later simply due to brim width

Thanks for the comments and especially to you, Manfred, for your help in tracking the package. They delivered 2 weeks to the day of shipment. Of course, I was out of town and missed the delivery and had to hustle down to the post office when I returned yesterday. Real nice "welcome home" package :D

Picked up this charcoal grey Akubra Hampton earlier in the week. The ribbon is slightly damaged (but I'm leaving it be as part of the hat's 'history'), and the sweatband needed re-stitching in a couple of spots as well as leather conditioning. Otherwise it's still in fairly decent nick. Came originally with a tight, rather lopsided front pinch and teardrop crown, so I've reshaped it to more closely resemble the bash on present-day Hamptons.

I assume it's from the 1960s, as it seems to match galopede's description of his Hampton.
