Justin, those Kitten Finish Resistols are hard to beat. I've got a 20 and a 25, and they're two of my favorites, even among customs and much more expensive vintage hats. Great finish. Good score at that price, too. Frank

Those are fine hats and can easily rival some of the higher quality brands/designations of the same time period. Congrats!

OK, I just saw something hilarious for the cluelessness of a seller.

He has an Open Road-style, brown felt hat of an off brand hatter (we've seen some here, but it is not a "big" hatter). The sewing at the back of the sweatband is ripped out and the hat clumsily stretched to a little bigger size. The liner is soiled.

OK, got that? It's not in the worst shape, but not pristine by any measure.

In the description the seller says it's good for Halloween or costume parties.

OK, got that? The seller thinks it's just a costume hat.

So what is this idiot's asking price?

Over $150!!

Yeah... for a "costume" hat... that is ripped and soiled.

Clueless. Totally clueless.

That must be one hell of a costume! $150 for just the hat. How much would the rest of the costume cost? Maybe it's for a "naked guy wearing hat" costume.

Indeed, strange market lately. Small hats for big bucks. I remember the good old days of cheap pinhead pricing :)

If indeed it does turn out to be Australian (if) I s'pose it could have some fur in the felt & maybe I can make something of it. Brother 'El Sid' recently and very kindly sent me some vintage ribbon that may suit it depending on how well it turns out.

I'll be sure to keep you informed.....

Here's what that dish rag of a hat turned into after much stiffener and steam - made an OK bird hunting hat I think? - I didn't use the vintage ribbon from ElSid - this hat's definitely not worth THAT!
