It came out nice ! Ya done good guy :) I like the red fabric, makes the Silverbelly color really POP !! What model of Stetson originally came in it?

As always, Onward thru the Fog :)

I haven't a clue what originally came in it. Maybe an early Stetson 100?? All I know is I bought the case by itself and empty.I added the velvet and threw my Stetson 25 from the 1950s in it.

Any of you Stetson experts seen a case like this before?

Finally got that Stetson suitcase-styled hat box in today. Originally it was empty. So, I took some foam core board and some red velvet and gussied it up a bit with some inserts.

Neat older box... I wonder what came in it? You might want to consider the tubular form of a tradition box. This design will rest the full weight of the hat on the brim edge. The red velvet treatment is nice.

Good Idea. I'll add that.

Don't forget a ring of foam around the outside of the tubular insert, so it sits elevated from the raw edge of the cardboard ring. It distributes the force onto the brim more evenly, eliminating that ring that indents into the felt. Art does this with his boxes.

Actually, I went to the craft store and bought a role of 2 mil red foam (called "Foamies") and made a double set of rings, glued them together to make them sturdier and made the rings that way without using any cardboard at all. So the whole thing is soft enough not to mar the hat yet sturdy enough to hold the hat up.

The Rossen-ized tag and original box (and $1.25 price!?!) are fantastic additions to a great hat.

I like warm weather, but cold with snow is nice. What I can't stand is cold and barren.

I was guessing that hat was bought at Kaufmann's and then worked on at Rossen Hat Co. Can't read the Kaufmann's ticket on the box... $1.25 would seem a pretty low original sale price. But I might be all wet.

OK, I put in the foam oval shape so that the hat sits on the brim by the crown instead of the hat laying flat on the whole brim...

This is working very nicely, actually.
