2 that might have gotten away:

Neither has arrived! :rage: (yes, I do actually feel rage :) )

Dang, Scott, that really sucks!!! I hate to hear of that sort of thing happening to anyone, but especially to someone who is the complete opposite type of seller.

Folks, I won a beautiful green Disney with a maroon pug from Scott on the 14th. Today is the 17th. It was handed to me at the post office this morning when I stopped in to pick up another package!!! (They let me pick up my packages before they open. There are some things to be said for living in a rural area!) And that's a box that travelled about 2/3 of the way across the US. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Heck, if I'd had time to open the box I might have worn it for St Patrick's Day, but I was already wearing a green hat with a green shirt so I was covered. :D

Thanks, Scott, and I hope they arrive soon!

Cheers,
Tom

DREISPITZ- thanks for the info...looks like the hat I won might be made by the same maker as your fine chapeau, a 100 for 75 indeed!!
ScottF- you should definitely report the shipping issues to Ebay, their rules against outrageous shipping charges are pretty clear and you should be able to get some $$ back!! Sorry about the other situation but Ebay may still be able to help sort it all out for you.
CRACKER- I love that Stetson Fifteen...it is has a real classic look! :eusa_clap

That Stetson Fifteen is a great hat. I have a Knox Fifteen in the same color and size, and just a hair off in condition, but given how cheap that Stetson went, I'm afraid to list it. Don't get me wrong - I love buying hats cheap, and they are going cheap lately, but not interested in returning them to such waters.

I believe I've left 3 negative feedbacks in ten years and over 3,000 transactions, but I'll be leaving 2 for one day's purchases. :(

Thanks. I wouldn't have posted about these, but just thought it amazing that the two worst hat-related stories I have so far were for hats bought on the same day.

Well, hey, you can console yourself with the fact that the two best hats I've ever bought in my fledgling career as a hat addict have been from you on the same day (or near enough). lol

Thanks Tom! I wore a green hat last night, and I quite honestly thought about that Disney and realized that if the auction had ended a day early, I could have had it to you by yesterday. I wore it last year on St. Paddy's day!

Thanks Scott - that actually is some consolation, and I did ship them both on the same day :).

These just arrived today. I'm very happy with them! The first is a Churchill Italian Milan Straw Hat. I don't have much experience with straws, but this is the nicest, tightest, smallest weave I've seen.

Now, here's a Churchill Bowler, Beaver '50'...very nice felt, very soft, beautiful milk chocolate brown color. My wife doesn't like the bowler, but she'll have to get used to it, because I love it. It's my first bowler...

I'm afraid that's not a bowler. It's an open crown stingy fedora. Probably from the '60s. And a very nice one I might add- selling for $50 bucks in a time when the typical hat sold for about $12-$20.
Put a center dent crease in it and snap the brim down in the front and you'll be good to go.

Are you afrayed to bet more? Don't you have a shred of confidence?;)

I win a nickel! Following is a 7 1/8 Stetson Select that looks almost exactly like my Akubra Heritage - same color, almost flat brim, etc. The felt is thick and floppy - feels very similar to the Heritage, and unlike the other two Selects I've had/have. This is the '30s hat that Indiana Jones would have picked up when he wanted a lighter color. On the block, drying, on it's way to 7 1/4:

OHHH!!! Thanks for schooling me on that! It was labelled on Ebay as a bowler, and me not knowing any different, thought as much. But when I put it on, it did seem a little odd to me. Which makes me question what makes a bowler a bowler?

Highly curled, usually ribbon bound, brim; Slightly lower rounded off crown (like a short open crown) made of a harder felt.
