Big week for old hats - 5 arrived in the last two days

You aren't kidding! Those are some really interesting hats; I guess I'm too conventional for the furry ones though. I am definitely not too conventional for the powder blue Stetson. Classy!

Great hats all, Scott. I was the second bidder on your playboy. That's what I get for sleeping. I know it is good hands.

Dreispitz, You are going to to love the playboy. Apparently sleeping worked. Congrats

I figured you would be in on the bidding. Unless one comes up that is an extremely unusual color, I'm done for a while.

Dreispitz is going to love that one - the taper and ribbon treatment on Playboys is really something special, not to mention the floppy thin felt.

Unfortunately, I agree on the brown one - it looks like a wooly puppy. But the black one is soft and silky. I think that if you're interested in the history of fedoras, you have to handle a few of the old odd ones as well - even the lining and sweatband on the brown one are different from anything I've seen before.

I think both are fantastic! I love those type of finishes especially the old ones like yours.

Nice Rack

I really wanted this one. I had an almost identical one in the past. Has enough spacing to put fedoras on it. Someone else wanted it more than I....[huh]

We are currently wrapping up our investigation. What started as a straightforward and simple case of "snipe tampering" has turned into a rather sordid tale involving an international trans-gender hat ring. I cannot reveal all of the details at the moment, but our investigation did involve some exemplary undercover work by Deputy Swoopy wearing a bonnet...

Cheers,
The Director

:D :D :D
I serve at the pleasure of the Director of the Fedora Bureau of Investigation. Just the facts, Ma'am!

The bonnet is one thing but these 3 inch pumps kill my ankles!!!! :D

'Bout time you showed up. It just wasn't as fun pulling all that Bonnet stuff on you behind your back. What am I saying!? Of course it was! :D

Early Dobbs (?) Derby

I picked this up mainly for the box. The Derby looks like it will need some work and with the sweat missing, it may not have any other manufacturers mark anywhere. I guess we'll find out when it gets here and I can decide whether the hat is worth restoring.

What we do know is that the United Hatters of America union existed from 1886-1934, so this hat is from somewhere in there - as is, I suspect, the rather fetching box. Anyone else got a box like this?

And while I'm asking, do any of you wise souls know where I can get a vintage 7 1/4 leather sweat?
