I pulled this one in. It has a touch wider brim than my more modern Alessandria & maybe a darker tan but won't know until it gets here. The liner looks more vintage than my mid 1980's model. I was prepared to go higher especially for 7 5/8 but didn't have to.:) Can anybody tell by the lining if this was pre-factory move that I've read about?

Wow ,..you really got a deal pardner. :) (I'll ship it tomorrow most likely.) The russet brown sweatband, from what I understand dates it solidly in the 60's or before, by the way.
But be advised loungers,...this will most likely be the last hat I ever sell on ebay. The cost of procuring them, listing them, the time and effort just doesn't warrant my looking around for them anymore. Sadly enough, ebay wants it that way. Only if I find some ridiculous deal on something rare and unusual,..[huh] but that's highly unlikely.

Ummmm... Sorry about that, Aureliano! I don't suppose it would help that it was your hat and thread that spurred me into keeping an eye out for one?

As for snipers, well, all's fair in love and eBay! :p Seriously, if it wasn't for snipers I wouldn't bid at all most of the time as I do the "fire and forget" bit. That's handy for days like today, when at this time I've been working for over 12 hours and it looks like I have a few more to go.

I'll have to see if I have an appropriate hat box for it when it arrives. ;)

Cheers,
Tom

You won! well that changes everything! I'm very happy for you Tom. You are going to love it! I've been wearing my Vagabond for 4 days straight now. It is such an amazing hat. Please post pictures.:eusa_clap at my Vagabond thread.

Please tell me that you have a hat box, I am going to be miserable if the one you sent me was your last available/empty knox box (I could send it back:cry: to you of course)

What snipper do you use? now that I'm starting the ebay hunts it might come in handy;)

PS: what do you do for work? 12 hours!

Oh, I've got a hat box for it all right! :D :D I have a number of Knox hat boxes, including an older one that I think will do the trick. The only problem I encountered in picking out a box for you was in making sure it was a good one.

I use ezsniper. There are a few out there but that's the one I wound up using. I like it.

Job-wise, I'm a regional field technician (IT) for a private college. We're between quarters, with classes to resume on Monday. Usually not a major problem, but this time we're building a second computer lab at one campus and the drywall hasn't even been put up yet; at another campus they want to move one computer lab and set up a second one--the cabling hasn't been installed for either, and the computers for the second one may not arrive on time. :eusa_doh: In the meantime I'm refreshing the software installations on lab computers in seven labs at four locations, while also taking care of my usual work orders. Things will get back to normal next week! :p

I'll definitely post photos in the Vagabond thread when it arrives. I'm proud to be a new member! :D

Cheers,
Tom

Thank you, what a relief to hear you have a box! Hope you get some well deserved rest soon, man.
And yes, welcome to the Society:eusa_clap

Are you serious about being angry? If so, here's my basic auction bidding rule (and while I often speak on topics I know little about, I've participated in MANY auctions - other than ebay - so this actually is based on experience): bid what you are willing to pay, NOT what you would like to win it for. Then you've got nothing to be upset about.

If everyone did the above, we'd all pay a lot more for things, but it's probable that no one will pay attention to the above, so no harm, no foul.

The angry part was a joke. I was dissapointed I didn't win. I almost never participate in auctions. I don't like the wait and the fuss. I did bid what I thought it'd be fair to pay for a hat like that and what my possibilities allowed me.
I am very happy that my friend Tom won the Vagabond. I
It might be that all day today I've been grumpy but your message felt like you were snapping at me. (or I should say snipping:p )

Color. In the photographs, the more expensive one was a very nice silver.
If you look at the pictures with the liner and the sweatband, the color is usually more accurate than the general exterior photos(often not saying much). Most probably just your average medium gray, one of the most common colors. The other two were in the tan range(also common) and demonstrated the same price difference. Just needs two or more who want it badly.

I think so Major Nick, like I said I was truely expecting to go higher but not the BIN price higher. Glad I got in on one of your final ebay listings. These large ones are hard to come by. Looking forward to checking it out in person. Nice doing business with you so far.

I don't normally look for this type of thing, but I think this is the first C&K gift hat I've seen.

Same here, nor have I ever seen a shoe as part of the package. And a pretty neat shoe at that! I wonder if it was part of a doll's ensemble originally, or if it was part of the gift package?

Cheers,
Tom
