what a lovely 6 3/4 Borsalino. That should clean up nicely.

I was gonna' go after that one but slept through it. Glad it went to a lounger.cookie said:

I just won this light grey Borsalino:
Crown is 5 1/2" tall, the brim 2 7/8" wide. Snatched for $23.28.

When it came up on my search, I immediately thought JtL was casting for this baby. The only thing wrong with this hat seems to be PMS written on the lining.Lefty said:I've got to guess that it's jtl, as it's his size and one of the nicest hats I've ever seen.

You have to consider the size in addition to the uniqueness of the vintage lid along with the condition. A near mint vintage in 7 3/8 & up is going to draw higher $$$ because those sizes are not that common. I can imagine what this would've demanded had it been 7 5/8. You are correct, you'd pay over $300 for a new custom that may or may not come close to the quality of this vintage one but they can never come close to the background this hat has. IMHObabs said:$300+ .. Really!?!? I was watching that one also and I figured maybe 150ish or maybe $200ish if the hat was flawless, but it did have one blem.. Wow I guess it's just me but I don't see $300 there. Then again, I am an admitted newb. I did think the ribbon-work on it was really top-notch, and the color was phenomenal. I guess in comparison of the kind of custom high-end hat you'd have to buy to get as close to it as you could, $300 doesn't sound like such a massive amount comparatively.

You'll be hard pressed to get a Twenty-Five or 3X for under $200, $150 respectively, let alone a One-Hundred. I watch those just to see how high they go. Again, if it was a 7 5/8, I'd wager $500 wouldn't be surprising sell price.babs said:Indeed.. I'm anxious to see what a particular stetson I'm watching will go for. I didn't even think.. I just said boom!!! I'll bid a c-note.. I knew I didn't stand a chance and I was right.. Instant outbid. What a hat!
