Asking price and selling price are two different thing…it’s his baby, I’ll let him rock it as he sees fit
Yup. You never know. Somebody might bite.

Somehow I knew it was this hat before I even clickedSo, I’ve been on this forum for over 3 years and don’t remember reading anything here about this hat—which has been relisted for at least as long—and surely it’s been talked about here many times. Anyone care to share the history of this persistent hat and its unflagging seller with us newbies?

I’ve seen it a couple of times. First time was about a year ago. That’s how you “sell” things that you really don’t want to part with, I suppose. So, I’ve been on this forum for over 3 years and don’t remember reading anything here about this hat—which has been relisted for at least as long—and surely it’s been talked about here many times. Both. Sellers can opt out of using the ebay global shipping program and they can charge their own shipping fee. But, a seller does have to directly click the opt out, otherwise ebay puts any overseas sale into the global shipping program and leaves the seller no choice on costs. Your best bet is to ask the seller about his rates before you bid. If you just use the ebay calculation, it is often WAY wrong and too high. So, asking the seller is your first resort.A quick question. For shipping costs (to Japan), does eBay calculate the rate or does the seller set the price? One reason I haven’t placed a bid on eBay before is some very high shipping costs. Last year, I purchased a Homburg from Brent. He sent it before I paid, so I paid the actual cost of $28. Looking on eBay, most are charging at least twice that and some up to four times that amount. Or is it just different shipping methods?
The auction. Are you asking about the Demon Hanover or this particular auction?
If the former: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/demon-hanover-by-hoyt-hats.58432/
Don't you have one of the boxes?
If the latter, both Max and I have tried to talk him down, but he won't budge. It's been at least four years and he still keeps relisting it for a grand. He used to ask $1500.
And yes, I have a box, but it was sans the lid.
And not in great condition. I’m sure I haven’t helped it’s condition since my ownership.
Made a lid using thin cardboard.
Used packing tape on the box so it’d hold together a few more years.
I know.
Sacrilege and vandalism. Wasn’t born bright/will die dumb.
LOL
The auction.
I’ve read a portion of this thread a long while ago not knowing it was this HatsEnough seller who was holding the Hanover.
Well, SOMEONE here, should buy it just to free the hostage! LOL!

Thanks for the Demon explanation.Let's leave that for Max, K?
Besides, I already have a couple.
If I remember right, you didn't have much to work with.
Thanks for the Demon explanation.
I see the guy has been banned but didn’t bother to continue reading the thread to find out why—if there’s why there.
No sense beating a dead horse.
Pun intended.
Ps
If you’re interested in the vandalized hat box, send a pm. All I want in trade is a different vintage hat box of low value and of much less rarity.
Ah! So now we know the real reason he keeps the hat and the price up.Ha, that would be Warner. He wasn't just banned, he returned at least two more times and each time was banned. Ahh, the good old days.
The saga may be over.
Says it sold Feb 18th for best offer.
Remains to be seen who the lucky owner is.
B
Ps: further investigation shows it re-posted?? again.
Who knows!

Awesome! If it doesn't fit you let me knowBowen @AbbaDatDeHat tipped me off on this hat listed as a size 6 ⅝. I meant to bid at the end but got distracted and missed it. A few days later it was re-listed due to a non-paying bidder and I made an offer that was accepted. Thank you B!

The photo the seller sent me at my request that was not in his listing for this “6 ⅝” hat.

Ha. I had watched that one just for fun to see where it went up to… wondering if they had the size incorrect. Almost sent it your way as well… Congratulations and glad Bowen alerted you to it.Bowen @AbbaDatDeHat tipped me off on this hat listed as a size 6 ⅝.
