Nice find, Brent. All the licensed Stetsons said so on the sweatband right under the Stetson logo, so this one must be an American (or Canadian) made one.

I was expecting to see the made in (country) on the sweatband too. It’s on a slow boat from Texas, but here is the original listing:

That is an eye-opener!!
How did you make it from 7 to 7 1/4 and keep the sweat band so clean?
Sometimes I reblock the hat for a taller crown(I love tall crown too),
But never seen a magic like 7 to 7 1/4, is that a new 1/4 sweat band or?
You always bring me suprise.
Huang
Thanks, a lot Huang.
It’s the same sweatband that it had.
I have a dependable, unique way of stretching good condition old sweats using a wood turnbuckle stretcher that I built of my own design.
I’ve explained how it’s done on other threads, but unfortunately don’t remember which one.

Another eBay renovation victory!
My first attempt at shark gills with
“dog ears”
It’s a lotta work! Always wanted to try at least one. She’s sporting a blue ribbon, though it may look black in these pics.
It had a dark blue ribbon with the typical bow but wanted this one to showboat this killer style. Seemed to be screaming for pleats and ears.
Man, this 40s Portis will stay an all time fav fo sho!
2 3/4” brim. 6” crown.
She had tack stitched binding like a Collins & Fairbanks I acquired a few months back. Guess it was done this way so there wouldn’t be a row of stitching showing on the bottom side having a shorter reveal than the top side? Seems it’d be a hard thing to accomplish by hand, and can’t imagine a machine pulling off this unique feature.
re-blocked and cleaned, and stretched a bit. She was already my size though it shrunk, as happens a lot.
As usual, I was careful to re-glue the original paper tags to the inside crown.
Here’s the eBay link and a screenshot for when the link disappears. Nabbed her for $45!

Wow, Huang, you did a fantastic job on that old beat up 7X! The other one looks brand new, and well shaped!

Do you take out the sweats when you do re-blocks? If not, it sure ends up looking like you do, which is truly a skilled feat.

Wish I had one of them old stretchers like yours, but they always cost too much. Can’t imagine how much it was to send over seas.
You do great work with all your hard to get hat tools!

For the large headed among us:https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1957671721066766/

This is a 7 3/4 7X Resistol open crown in new condition for $135. I can't tell the vintage. It has the rope stamp around sweatband like 60's-70's but I'm unsure if that was something that Resistol did since then on 7X models. I never saw that many of them of that era.
