eBay victory. About twenty minutes in. Not all the hat looks original, but Even the ring around the top look great to me!
Great get Daniel! The hat probably had a telescope crease for most of its life. Dig it!

Ah, so you got that one. Only saw it when there was only 10 seconds left. Good for you. That should clean and steam up nicely. The first name, Bronzo, is supposed to be the colour and the middle name, Aligi, the colour of the ribbon. If the label-theory holds up that hat is from 1980, which seems about right for that hat. I wonder about the colour though, because my homburg in Bronzo looks quite a bit different:Just won this Borsalino Extra Superiore without competition for 1,- Euro ... plus 5,- Euro shipping :-(
The label says it's a model Bronzo in color Aligi, correct?
Can anyone estimate the date?
Although mistreated and out of shape; the felt, sweatband and liner seem to be in good condition.
Will just need a hatblock and some steam.

It seems to me an evaluation out of every parameter. Madness!THIS listed Barbisio as a 1977 to 1989 hat at US $1,294.99 floored me with the price.....even Japan will not pay this....simply WOW........

This is a hat that is not rare to find on the Italian market at much, much lower prices.
If there will be a buyer at this price and even much less, I will buy Barbisio of that kind

Second time a seller flaked out on accepting opening bid as Best Offer, this time not even a day after listing:

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Lesson learned.
"flaked out on accepting opening bid" ?
Cancelled the offer prematurely, after you already went for the start price?
You could try engaging eBay services in the case; might at least effect the sellers track record.
No fishy business to warrant a complaint, just odd in my book. The seller chose to accept a Best Offer which happened to be the requested opening bid amount after the listing was active for less than a day. Completely within their right to do so, however, I don't think the seller understands the concept of an auction.
I could understand accepting a minimum asking price offer after no bids had been placed for several days, but to throw in the towel after less than 24 hours doesn't make any sense to me. Why even list it as an auction? Just make it Buy It Now. I couldn't have clicked BIN fast enough had it been an option at that price. This hat would have auctioned for more than $50 had the seller had any patience.
This is the second time in as many weeks that I've run across this scenario with an impatient seller. Clearly I need to start offering opening auction price as best offers. Apparently I have nothing to lose.
It’s possible eBay does not list what the actual offer amount was.
I won an auction with a best offer below a BIN price, and when I view the listing without signing in it says “Solf For [the BIN]”, not the lower price I actually paid.
