Found this photo of Matt's 1930's Dobbs. That liner on the Capone hat doesn't match up with this hat anyway. I agree the supposed Capone hat's liner and bow look '60ish.
Holy Grail!Early Hawes Von Gal stiff hat c.1913 hiding in a more recent Dobbs box, From Joe Fried in Canal Dover, Ohio, when Dover went by that name (pre-1915). I wish Josh's great photos from the Hawes Von Gal thread were still active links. <sigh>

This doesn't seem like a bad idea for my summer wardrobe. What else could I pair with this?
Not a look I can imagine pulling off. Next!
I'm glad to see that the western hats are growing on you.A two-for-one deal on NIB Bailey western hats. I know Bailey is a mass-market discount brand, but for the price I was willing to take the risk. The golden tan is 8X and the Brown is a 5X. If nothing else I can convert them to fedoras, but I’m hoping to add them to my growing western selection.

Yep, keep trying. My wife hasn’t warmed to them. I keep thinking I just need to find the right western to convince her.
You wear them very well. A pair of jeans, a plaid shirt, some western boots and you're ready to go. I wear what I'm feeling. Sometimes western, mostly fedoras and suit jackets or leather coats and a couple Homburgs. Even in highschool I'd wear a tshirt and jeans one day and a suit and tie the next.My wife hasn’t warmed to them. I keep thinking I just need to find the right western to convince her.

If I could get hats to grow on me, I wouldn't have to scour eBay, Etsy, and vintage shops for them.
Lighting strikes twice! Just grabbed this Brent Black Montecristi for $99. That’s two Brent Black Montecristi fedoras in two months.

Interesting.......
I was watching that one too. It went a little high for my war chest also. I was thinking, Jim will want this one, I shouldn't run it up on him. So this ending price was not my faultDidn't think it would go for this much, honestly.

I just didn't have enough in my reserve to go deep on this one. It likely would have been my nicest, despite the need for a new sweatband.
Oh well, back to fishing for more hats.
