Careful being so critical, it may show up around here. It's a desirable size and it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I have a 3 X with an embroidered Last Drop liner I paid about half as much for and a Royal Deluxe about $100 less. You just never know when someone really wants something and it only takes two to drive the bid up.

I'll pay what I feel something is worth to me. (No I didn't win the OR). Personally I have paid way to much for some hats I own, but I did it because they are special to me

just thank fate you paid less. Someone once offered me $1000 for a copper ecig i'd paid $75 for a week earlier so he could be cool in south california cause it was reviewed well by a scottish reviewer who was on trend, and in fairness a nice guy. I regret not taking it but at the same time he (the ass buyer not the nice reviewer) was being an ass on a forum. So i kept the crappy ecig. Regrets, i have a few. Man i even did him a favour, no way that ecig coukd have made him as cool as me. (-:

Yeah, that 3X is a nice hat and in very good shape. Plus, the dealer is a Member (who hasn't posted in some time) and I'm glad he raked in the coin.
And 25B, if your 7X is in the kind of shape this 3X is in, you got a pretty good deal on it.

What's the age of your 7X?
The "Dealer" who sold that OR has such history and knowledge of apparel that you would do well to respect what he has to offer. Your inexperience and naivety in this market are obvious to those of us who do understand the nuances of the value(s) of vintage hats. Sad, but true about us hat geeks. But keep up the good spirit, continue pensively pouring over the pages, and you will fully understand how it all seems to work.
What we don't understand here, however, is how People can ask $1500 or more (as was seen this week) for a relatively run-of-the-mill OR, or even some more special examples...
