I was wondering mostly because, while I do want a Whippet, this one is not the color that I would prefer. If another Lounger is after it, I will back off. Over a c note with four hours left, probably will go over my budget anyway.

that Whippet is pretty beat up and looks to be a project more than anything ... I'm not one for playing hat doctor ... especially when dealing with ribbon stain and discoloration

I think it has already pretty much reached what I would be willing to pay for it

That was another consideration, although I don't mind playing hat doctor, it's gotta be pretty cheap to make it worth it to me. Or much older. Or both.

Agree, Anthony. And I'm a project hat guy. So is Moe, for that matter.

Ribbon stains are pretty much lost causes to me. Sweat's likely OK but that reed sheath has seen some shelf and table time with that wear. Plus, needs a dunk and reblock.

I love and envy you guys for being project guys

just not my thing at all ... aside from throwing a hat on a block... I'm a wearer and admirer

when it comes to replacing ribbons or resewing sweats or bindings ... I'll leave that to my homeboys on the lounge

just snagged this late 50s 3X OR for an absolute song ... a song I tell ya ... and I song I didn't know particularly well

I took a chance on an offer fully expecting to be rejected quickly ... only to open the bay a while later to ... "pay now"

ya never know

a few nibbles ... but that never bothers me .. especially for the price I paid

this will be an every day all weather hat for me

That is a tune I'd carry!
Love my 3X OR, even though it's a 60's, the felt is well on it's way to that "feel" that the older hats have. Yours should be that much more awesome.

Yeah, I was watching that. Predicted $200.

Nice score, Anthony. What color is that?

no idea honestly ... gray ?

he had it up for $119.00 and I will tell you that I offered less than half of that and he accepted

I didn't expect him to ... I thought it might just start a dialog without dropping my pants

Even though the listing was wrong on the time frame of these two hats, I thought surely desirable lids like these in larger sizes would go for more.

They are long oval, the stains on one hat were on the front of the crown, there was some discrepancy on the size listings/ question response and there were not enough photos of the underside of the hats, especially the brim and size. At least those are the items that diminished the value in my eyes.
