It's too bad I recently sold it. This would be a difficult one. Does he have experience with old stiff felts?

Well, it's my understanding that he makes stiff hats entirely by hand in the old manner, with the old tools, and has done so for 30 years

He's pretty modest, but his work looks good and his collection of old school tools indicates that he's the real deal.

Like on this one, with the rear crown resting on the peak & the front brim (at the break) spread across the "T" section at the end w/ the other end screwed to the wall... I hope... or I'll have to get out my jig & do a little more bending! :eusa_doh:

Hmmmm. I'd say the black one looks unstable to me... Unless the T part is supposed to go into the hat and the hat hangs with the brim and head opening hanging parallel to the wall. Maybe that is how it works? But it that is the case, the bend downward doesn't make sense to me.

Now that might make more sense. Maybe it is upside down in the picture? So, in that case the T part would be sitting up into the crown.

Bend goes up in the crown opening & the cross piece stabilizes the brim so it doesn't fall off side to side...

Stetson One Hundred listed as a 7 1/2. I bid on it and it's actually a 7 1/8. I may have another hat to sell in the classifieds soon. Haha. A lesson for me to look at the pics more carefully and not trust the sellers listing before I place a bid.
