I received a tip from Manfred on this larger size German (?) Back Bow. I think this is an old one but in little worn condition. It also has a clip for the crease (deep center crease) which I have never seen before. Looking forward to receiving this one.

Steve,

That is a very interesting find. When you look at the crease clip on the inside it looks more tightly pinched than when you look at the crown on the outside. I hope you will post a photo of the clip when you receive it. I've never seen one of these before and I'm very interested in seeing how they work. Congratulations!

The hat body dimensions are common for that style and period milan - the ribbon is very wide and the apparent height and squareness of the crown are likely a result of the camera and downward angle of the photographs. A nice buy for the winner.

The angle and the optical effect thereof WERE a factor then?
Either way, a terrific addition, great price!

Thanks Alan.

'twasn't me, though I was tempted. I have a couple similar. The open crown looks attractive compared with the more familiar 50's porkpie often seen in these.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply, fedoracentric. I know the ultimate decision is mine, but I enjoy listening to the wisdom of the Lounge. The hat is below for a reference. If anyone can place this hat historically, I would appreciate it.

I'd say 1940's, early 1950's at the latest. The "to duplicate" labels of the '50s and later I noticed are less fancy, and it doesn't have a plastic cover on the liner.

GoldenEra & Tom, thanks! I can't wait to get it in my hands (sometime between today & Monday). Looks like it needs quite the amount of love and care to get it back into shape, but I have been on the look for an older Stetson Fedora, and it looks like I may have finally acquired one! :D

Miami, I too would have to say 40's/50's. Very nice looking hat!
