Just polling others to see if their recent experiences mirror mine or if it's just bad luck combined with increased purchase frequency. IMO, it seems much more prevalent in the past year to have issues with sellers not disclosing damage or falsely claiming condition etc. And then even denying they sent the jacket out like that when pictures are provided showing damage /defects. And Im not talking about tiny scratches or single broken threads on vintage jackets. Major issues like busted open seams, alterations showing tons of old stitch hole lines, ripped linings, etc. It's not like some tiny USPS gremlin mice are damaging jackets inside packages ! ha

I’m sorry to hear that guys. I have actually had very good results with my shopping on eBay this year although I have not bought anything too expensive nor special in 2020.
I did have one odd experience where a local seller accepted my offer and then insisted that I bring cash to pay in person for the item. I got a strange vibe from him so I told him that I would pay via PayPal through eBay and the offer disappeared just like that.

Browsing eBay is a hobby, and I probably buy at least one thing a week. I haven’t noticed any changes, really, but I’m always careful to look for what is said (and not said) in a listing and scrutinize pics. And I generally assume omitted info means an issue until proven otherwise.

I find many a seller on Ebay who have no clue about the item they're selling...especially hats.
But it doesn't seem to have changed much in the last 10 years as far as I can tell.

The thing I’ve noticed most is that COVID seems to have driven more Folks into selling online who have no clue how to actually sell anything. Can’t tell you the number of requests I’ve had to make Just to get remotely accurate measurements on stuff. Haven’t gotten screwed lately, but I agree there ‘bored’ tire-kickers out there or trolls offer ridiculously low offers.
