Me too, me too…:D

The only occasion you could see me wearing a Lederhose is the Wacken festival. Pretty similar to Oktoberfest meanwhile, just with bettet music…:D

But you may remember, that I tried to be fair.

Nürnberger Sausages is a plus for Bavaria. Whoever created them, is a genius. But one from the Frankenland would not call himself a Bayer, I guess. ;)

I never visited the Oktoberfest München and never will. The "festival tourism" is also a big problem since twenty years, bringing festivals nearly to collapse, if the managment doesn't cut the number of visitors.
The Oktoberfest has also a newer highlight. People visiting just to experience the legendary Kotzhügel, because of Youtube. ;)

After the Napolionic wars, the German Confederation was made up of 39 independent German speaking states that were only loosely associated with each other. Prior to that, the Holy Roman Empire (in roughly the same geographic territory) had something like 300 duchies, principalities, free states, etc, etc. I kinda get the idea that, deep down, these mini- and micro- allegiances Sometimes still are a more important part of one’s identity than today’s big country of Germany. Or am I getting that wrong? And Most/many of these former kingdoms are virtually unknown to most non-Germans. i Know I’m terribly ignorant about most of these places.

My mom was from a particular backwoods corner of Hessen, my dad was from Upper Silesia (Both were born pre-war.). Talk about Mars and Venus; they both spoke German but sometimes they could hardly understand each other.
