I’m interested in getting a Roadstar but the sizing on Standard & Strange is… strange.

Their listed measurements seem smaller than they should commonly be, even in Japanese perspectives, particularly in sizes 38 and 40.

If you have (or have had) a Roadstar, can you share your experiences with the actual specs, as compared to those listed in the S&S website?

https://standardandstrange.com/products/roadstar-jacket-black-horsehide

Here are their listed specs:

Thank you for any help or even comment!

I haven't handled a Road Star in person, but I have a Windward, and I thought that they were under-sized. A 44 is barely big enough for me to fit into. Would not be surprised if it wasn't the same with their other models.

Thanks. I checked out the website in @ProteinNerd ‘s sale post but it didn’t give measurements (that I could find). Maybe he’ll stop by here and offer some measurements for his size 40 Roadstar that he’s selling .
I have one for sale as well.

Measurements for a 38 are as follows (inches):
Chest- 21
Length- 23
Shoulders- 18.5
Sleeve length- 24.5

Very helpful. So, somewhat loose at top and tapered pretty aggressively and relatively short?

The S&S listing has the chest pretty narrow for size 40, measured at 39 inches total circumference, which would be too narrow for me. But from your feedbacks and experiences, there’s a good chance that the S&S listing is off? Thoughts?

Why not just buy the one here, avoid the S&S tax, and get one that you know fits?

Thinking about it but want to contact S&S for their measurements first (the ones here seem slightly too loose around the chest while the S&S spec has it too tight). I would like to optimize the fit and I don’t mind paying more for that.

The 38 here is right in between S&S 40 and the 40 here.

Alternatively you could get a custom Aero Ridley with the same J-24 details for about 60% the price, and request the specific chest fit you want.

I’m actually looking specifically for a lighter Horsehide. I had a customized Aero D-Pocket in Vicenza (via Thurston Bros) and it’s a beauty, but just looking for a lighter HH to throw around and hoping for a brand new one to make “mine”… but the ones for sale here are definitely tempting. Thx

Yes there's a significant price difference but it's also a better jacket, imo the Roadstar looks more refined than the Ridley.

Very nice, Marc. From what I’ve read and the pictures I’ve seen, the veg-tanned Italian horsehide that Eastman uses exhibits aging characters that I prefer over the Vicenza hide. Ultimately , im still exploring but leaning heavily toward the Eastman Roadstar.

S&S has great customer service. They’ll measure it right up for you.

Agreed 100%. I’ve bought so many items from them over the years and they’re always personable and helpful, which is largely a reason I don’t mind supporting them with purchases I don’t need…

Check out the History Preservation website, they also carry this jacket:

https://www.historypreservation.com...s-motorcycle-jacket-black-warhorse-horsehide/

In addition to posting detailed measurements, Charles has prepared sizing tips for every jacket he sells and I have found them to be spot on with the jackets I have purchased through him.
I also see that he is asking $545 dollars more than S&S for this jacket (plus $49 for shipping) So I do not suggest that you make the purchase with him, but rather use him for sizing info.
