Finally! A week's vacation and I'm able to look in on TFL again ... the things I've missed!
This is the first time I've actually seen anybody wearing this ELC jacket and, I have to say, it's a lot more appealing on a person than on the website! It looks okay on the website, don't get me wrong, but I actually feel that stirring of temptation by looking at the photos! I can see its appeal for the first time.
You wear it well, Sir, and it looks great with the chino's. Perfect fit.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes, this jacket is far better in person than in pics. Seems weird that that these sellers don't do a better job giving folks a better real-world look at their products.

Excellent! This is a jacket I have been close to buying several times on the secondary market. This is as nice of this ELMC style as I have seen.

I've owned a couple of ELMC jackets and they are something special. I've got one coming in the mail and this post has me enthused!

This is a really cool jacket. I’m normally not a fan of flap pockets at the waist but these seem to integrate into the body very well! No bulging and the jacket maintains a nice sleek silhouette. Great fit and hide too. Well done!

This is a 44. I’m 6 foot even and weigh 182. I generally wear a 42 suit jacket. This brand (elmc) are sized a bit small so that is why I take it in 44. I also have their “Californian” also in 44 and fits great as well.

Depends on hide and pattern, really. I decided to part with my ELC A2 in horse after I got the Aero goat A2 because I never wore the ELC any more. In part, I think the Aero was just a better fit for me, but it's all personal preference, really.

The Hartmann is a really nice pattern; it'd be interesting to see it in other hides.

Hello everyone, I see that this post is a year old, however, in doing research on this jacket I’ve found little information on the warmth, durability and length/fit overall. My question concerning the warmth and durability is in regards to the fact that I work internationally as a photojournalist, as such I am looking for a light weight to wear in semi warmer weather when in hotter climates yet warm enough to wear in the much colder weather maybe with a turtleneck/knit sweater to keep me fairly warm without problem. In other words, I’m looking for the perfect in between jacket and wondering if this is the best fit since I love the style but need durability from scrapes, rocks, rain, mud, etc along with the ability to go from one extreme climate to the other on the same trip with ease (i.g. The Arabian Desert to the Himalayas). I am also a 6ft tall very slender man and am wondering about The length being long enough to cover my waist to both look proportionately correct for my body type and cover enough of my waist to keep a cold draft out with movement and cover whatever shirt or sweater that is underneath the jacket. Pretty specific requirements, however, I’m hoping this jacket fits my needs. Thank you for your time. Kindly,

Hello Jacques.. I think the Hartmann will fit your requirements pretty well, it wears like a lighter weight jacket even though it has a wool lining. It wont work well for really cold situations without some other type of layer beneath. It is currently only available in Capeskin which is a type of goatskin. It may not be the best material for scampering around on rocks and boulders, but I'm not sure if any leather is.. It will get scraped/marked up but it wont fall apart. look in to the long size as this adds an inch to the length and sleeve if waist coverage is a concern

Sounds like this jacket is probably the perfect match for you if you're going to be going from warmer to colder climates, with the assist from other layers as necessary of course. The only other jacket which could fit the bill as equally would be an Indy jacket IMO.

As for the length, the OP claims he is 6' tall and has a size 44. Ask for dimensions directly from Eastman, but I wouldn't worry about the length being too short as it's not like you're extremely tall. You can always get a Long size too, which I'm told adds 1" to the bottom hem and sleeves. Length as it pertains to body is also only one part of the equation. Trouser rise is equally as important.

Sounds like you have a cool job btw.

Thank you for the reply and input. That is great, as long as the jacket will hold up under the circumstances mentioned then all of the scars, scratches, etc. are welcomed to create a nice patina.

Thank you, I appreciate your input. I wonder how compact the jacket could be rolled up while in warmer weather to stuff into a small backpack? With the jacket being so small, made of capeskin and I being a size U.S. 36 it may work.

I do wear my pants at the waist or slightly higher and almost always tuck in my shirts unless I am wearing a T-shirt or sweater in which case I almost always prefer my jackets to fully cover what is under them, both out of traditional styling principle and because the extra length of a T-shirt or sweater showing beyond a jacket’s crop, in my opinion, looks far too casual or even a bit garish and I always prefer to err on the side of formal than casual in my daily dress. I appreciate your help with my decision making. Do you know of any Eastman Leather resellers within the U.S.? Thank you.

I've been in the same situation you are. I've been looking for a "do it all jacket" like you described. In the end I bought a Lewis No. 60 Corsair that fits all my needs even though I probably wouldn't wear it in mid july. This might help you:
