Eastman A2 Contract number ?

Hi I have a fantastic Eastman A-2 but I am finding the contract number extremely difficult to pin down !
The details on the label are :- Dwg No 30-1415 Contract number 42-058361
Was there such a contract number or is it just a made up one ?

Thanks - I did the search and checked these contract numbers out but this one doesn't seem to be listed ? I cannot see Gary using a 'made-up' number on such an excellent replica ?!

No such animal, totally fictional. ELC makes bogus contracts sometimes on their A-2's.

Steve is correct on ELCs house versions (which are a melding of a couple of different contracts) he used a contract number that did not exist. I believe he probably did this as to not confuse people with a specific original contract. ELC does of course make A2 original contracts, Roughwear, Star, Monarch, Werber and uses the correct spec tag. Hope this answers the question.

A2 label info query

Just purchased a second hand Eastman A-2 with this contract number on it.
Can you advise what type of leather is the jacket made from.
Looks horse to me.

Welcome to the forum Alan. It is impossible to tell the difference between horse and steer unless it is scientifically analysed. I believe this early ELC jacket was made of horsehide. To be 100% sure why not email Gary at ELC?

I do have an order in for a new Jacket at Eastman at the moment so hopefully he will not mind wasting his time with the query.
Just out of interest when you stated ...this early ELC jacket .... how did you know when it was made ?

ELC started in 1984 and the Golden Book came out ten years later. They used the same contract on their house A2s then as now, so that's why I suspect its an earlier Eastman, but I'm happy to be proved wrong.

What does it contain ?
Is it something that can be bought ?

The Golden Book was ELC's catalogue from the mid 90s. It has pics of all their jackets and great pics of originals too. It has been out of print for several years, but sometimes copies come up for sale on Ebay. They now have their flight jacket CD and website, but nothing has replaced the Golden Book IMO.
