My 17-year old just announced that she wants an Easter egg hunt this year. We used to do them 3-4 times a year when both our daughters were little. I'm delighted that she's still interested - so we're planning a BIG-time hunt.

And it looks like I'll be smoking a turkey in my good ol' New Braunfels smoker. My whole family loves smoked turkey!

I'll be in Las Vegas for Viva Las Vegas! True, it's weird to wake up on Easter Sunday in Sin City. It has become a tradition however!

working on Easter? aww...that sucks.
We're going to do the Easter egg hunt thing as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather cooperates! After that, I'm having the whole family come over for dinner....has anyone had deep fried turkey?

Baby's first Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is a special time of the year for my family. This year, my wife, sister, and brother-in-law (who's also my best friend) are going to take my daughter to the Royal Easter Show, a huge fair/festival that lasts for two weeks every Easter. My baby girl is nearly two and it will be her first Show. The Show features everything from crazy rides and rollercoasters to showbags, rodeos, woodchopping, agricultural displays, everything!

We'll be attending Church on the Saturday, which is also my birthday, and then Sunday we're going to my sister's for our first ever Easter Egg Hunt.

I'm very busy this time of year. As a Church musician, I'll be playing and singing for all the Liturgies of the Triduum. For Easter, proper, I have the Solemn Easter Vigil on Saturday night, then up again on Sunday morning to lead the music at 7:00 and 10:30 a.m.

Then, like as not, we'll have the entire family over here for late lunch.

I was hoping we'd be going to Viva Las Vegas, but tickets ran out before we knew what our plans would be  . We'll go to church, relax at home for a little while, then off to a 2pm gig. In the evening, I'll bake a ham for dinner, and we may have family or friends over.

Pilgrim- My kids are 12 and 15. Last year we hid eggs because the kids bet us they'd have no trouble finding anything we hid. We hid them so well, we lost track of a few. It was about 2 weeks before they all turned up (don't worry, they were plastic with candy or trinkets in them). A few years ago, while we were in Vegas, my brother hid eggs for the kids at my mom's house. My daughter found one with a dollar in it over a year later. Egg hunts are fun at any age.

Our Easter is later than Catholic/Protestant Easter, so we'll be celebrating Easter on the 23rd of April this year.

We usually go back to the "old country" to celebrate Easter with family, but this year we'll be in jolly old England. My wife's mum is flying over to spend it with us, so that should be nice.

Yah, me too, Matei. I grew up always having easter on a different date than all my friends. Made me feel special.

I'm not a church-goer but I absolutely love the Eastern Orthodox midnight ringing of the bells, so I'll probably try and go.

And of course, my grandmother will send me homemade bread w/frosting by mail a couple days prior. That's always something to look forward to.

There's the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Oakland. Right below the Warren Freeway.

Eater is just around the corner....time for egg hunts and family get togethers. What are your plans for Easter?

Going to the most magical place on earth....that's right. Disney World. I will check out the Indiana Jones store. I'll check out those terrible coats and hats. They are poor replacements for a Wested and a good Herbert Johnson. But yes, I am quite excited about going to Disney World! One week baby!

Bein' of the Russian, I might try to return to the big cathedral on Geary in San Francisco. Their choir is amazing. But, seein' my lack of a car, I might just go to this little one in Berkeley off the Ashby BART.
