The price doesn't seem all too bad, given the rarity/unusual nature of the fabric, especially for folks who require the seller to be on the ball to be able to identify true vintage. Hell, when brooks Brothers charge such prices for the badly made sweatshop garbage they've put out in the "Gatsby" range, $175 for this set is a snip. Pair with contrasting cream flannel slacks and it's a winning combination.

tbh, I've never paid more than $125 (and over $100 only once - a $125 1920s knickerbocker suit) for an American 3-piece suit in ANY size. There's just too much out there, badly listed, to be spending a lot of $$ on "ordinary" gear.

I wish I could find anything actually from the "gatsby" era in a 38 short or so for anywhere near $100

I've noticed that 37-38R jackets are becoming harder to find compared to the 40-42R range at least in my experience. I've been on the search for a '60s does '30s belted back and a 9/10 times they're no smaller than 40R.

where are you looking?

Most 30s suits/separates I have found are on the smaller side. size 38s mostly
I mean with anything early 20s. I'll even take mid to late 20s but early is my favorite. And theres not much in the way of options besides Etsy, Ebay and thats about it. Theres no store I can visit around where I live although there have been some nice hats in the antique shops up and down route 1.

I can't muster up any exitement over an orphaned suit jacket just because it comes with a vest.
