so, i have this old stetson thats sorta fuzzy feeling. not like "normal" ones, i guess. it has a braided band (picture enclosed) i was wondering how i would go about drying it out, especially around the braid, since its thick. love this hat, and im sorry i wore it out today, now.

I'm guessing it's velour? Make sure it dries on its own and make sure it stays cool. Don't put it by a fire, or blow dry it. Heat and quick drying leads to shrinkage. Spray some water repellent on it for future rain. I put repellent on all my hats and they're invincible!

Be patient. Let it do it's thing. Do not apply heat or anything of that nature. If the band can be moved a little in spots, you could do that. Be sure to rest the hat on a hat rest or on it's crown, not on the brim.

The main thing is, did it soak through to the sweatband. If it did, do one of the following;
1. If you have a hat stretcher/retainer, put it in and leave it to dry.
2. Turn the sweat out to dry.
3. If you can stand to do it, wear the hat until the area around the sweatband is dry.

Otherwise, normal room temperature, time, and a quick prayer to the Hat Gods. [huh]
