Dressing for dinner?

I'm glad that I read that--even if a few parts made me cringe out of embarrassment. Last December I was invited by my grandmother to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Fox Theatre (the theatre and show each look splendid by the way) and arrived at her house in a dress and stockings. She took one look at me and immediately made me change into my sister's (ugh) velour jogging suit. Not only was it too big for me but she chastized me for dressing up. Later I was vindicated when we took in dinner at The Rhino with her guests and society figures started turning in dressed as they should have been. I felt like a little kid and know that I looked the part. I'm truly tired of this dress-down society and have vowed not to allow that sort of thing in my own house when I get older. But what makes it even more disappointing was that this was my grandmother, but then, she also called me a prude so...

Happily dressed up,
