Thought this needed a good thread.

It's pretty damn good, and showcases shops from around the world.

Best of all it's done in short vids. Check it out. Kind of like that sartorially knowledgeable dad you never had showcasing his knowledge to you.

Check out some of the shoe polishing and hat shop vids.

I'd do a blog like that with Marc Chevalier, yet I'd use an affected English accent.

I loved the Sergio Leone tribute video by the way, has one of my favorite musical pieces in it, in English it is translated as "The Man With the Harmonica," I believe. It's from what I consider to be the third best film of all time, Once Upon a Time in the West, or C'era una volta il West, in Italian. The rest of the videos were good too.

I've sent this link to my other half (40-something going on 16, in the sartorial sense) because hope springs eternal! Great site; I watched quite a few of the videos, which were so well done. I've never shown any interest in men's clothes before (being a girl), but I think the presenter's enthusiasm is contagious! Cheers - now I know the difference between a fedora and a trilby!

Actually the Fedora Trilby definitions wasn't that good. It's really the same hat style.

You're probably correct, but would you say that the commonly perceived notion of trilbys being the narrow-brim hats, is a mere misconception? I refer to them as stingy-brims, and most likely rightly so, but I know of a few on this board that have refered to them as being trilbys as well. Oh well, the debate can go on and on...

That's pretty much the distinction. However, if I understand correctly, the term trilby also includes fabric hats of the same shape, while those are not technically fedoras.

I was having the same problem. Try letting the video download all the way and then watching it. That worked for me.

My impression that I took away from the clip was that the fedora was a more structured/formal, higher/more angular hat than the trilby, with a wider brim. But like I said, I know nothing of men's clothes so I'll let you gents duke it out!

Michael Alden is a new member of our Forum. He introduced himself this morning in another thread. I haven't had any problems with his clips but do note that the sound quality is quite poor. :)

Did I understand correctly that he advises the pocket square to be rudely stuffed into the outer breast pocket ("so that it looks like it is growing out of it" -- yuck, sounds like mold) rather than folded neatly? I think origami-like folding is much better.

A matter of taste, I think.

As for me, I can never get the thing to fold right, so I just end up stuffing it in the pocket anyway. It looks all right nonetheless.
