I just read your article on hair Swinggal. Great information. I'm a poker-straight haired girl and have despaired of getting lovely waves until now.

Can i ask a silly question? What type of comb would you suggest using to put the waves in place? Would it be just a standard tail comb, or is there a specific type of comb that can be used?

Talking of hair, i found a really cute, oval, paste 1930's hair slide the other day. I'm thrilled as i haven't come across many hair slides from that period. It's having a stone put back in at the jewellers at the moment, but i will post a pic.

Miss Sofia, you can use a fine tail comb to 'push' the waves into the right direction (so you need to push first forward, hold there then push the next section back) or you can use the clamp-like wave clips. Alot of people don't realise they were often used after a wet set had been brushed out to get the water waves look.

Oh I cannot begin to tell you how after about an hour they pinched!! But they are sooo pretty...glad I know now!
The new project is to find a dress to wear them with...thinking a cotton halter style Hawaiian print and actually use them as dress clips

I just won my first dress clip! I have a ring which is incredibly similar, so this one fit the bill big time.

Did someone say, "dress clips?" I love them, have collected about 40 - both rhinestone and bakelite, all sizes and shapes - and wear them frequently. You don't have to limit them to garments, either. You can wear them in your hair or clipped on a beret. Be careful putting them on and taking them off of your lighter weight fabrics or sweaters and you should be ok.

Also, some of them may have clips that don't really attach to the fabric (because the clip is loose, not because it has the 2 prongs, which means it's a fur clip). If you get a loose one, safety pin it through the back to your garment so it won't slip off. I almost lost a dress clip once while riding the roller coaster. I didn't think I'd be shaken around like an ice cube in a martini blender but I was, and that dress clip was going to fly off, but the little safety pin kept it on my sweater.

These dress clips are simply amazing! Really nice design and I could totally picture them on some of my dresses! I am wondering though the same thing. Would they ruin the fabric?

There is always that possibility, but for the most part, the clip stays put on the lapel (or v-neck) as an adornment, not as a fastener so there is no pull. Some of the dress clips have a wider clip in the back and I find them better for certain fabrics. The clip in the picture is bulky, but surprisingly lightweight, and sits best on heavier fabrics or knits. The clasp isn't super tight, so I slip a tiny safety pin through the clasp as a hidden anchor.

I would love some dress clips, but I've never seen any around here and I have no idea what they're even called in Swedish so it's a little tough to look for them... I'll try though.
