There is probably already a thread on this but I've searched and can't find one.... just means I'm looking for the wrong things I guess.... apologies in advance.

If money was no object, what clothes would you really, really, really want?

I have in my head but have never seen a pattern for, a white silk blouse, full cuffed sleeves, black buttons, black silk pussycat bow. (I've seen Dita wearing something similar, but it's not the same...)
To be worn with a long black wool pencil skirt (mid calf) with a black satin sash tied in a bow at the hip.

Anyone else dreamed themself up an outfit without ever seeing it in the shops or catalogues?

I'm always dreaming up a 'perfect' piece to complete an outfit or a whole outfit.

Funnily enough, I've been thinking about a 40s style fitted cream silk satin blouse with full bishop sleeves and a wide collar. It's just one of those very elegant things that would be really useful to dress up a suit. Infact. I need more blouses fullstop!

As long as you promise not to laugh at my drawings, you may see them.

My "Indyish" safari outfit:

And others that are probably not very original:

I still get a thrill when I open a new box of 64 crayons. These drawings are great, thanks for sharing them.

I've recently started to coordinate what I want to make with the fabric and patterns I have so that I can start to make purchases to "plug holes" rather than just random buying (I'm sure there'll still be plenty of the latter though!). I'll try to post some pictures later.

Threads like this are always a great idea generator--I'm anxious to see what other gals post here.

Forgive the goofy pose, but I designed this and had it made. It's not that original since I borrowed from an existing pattern, but changed the neckline, width of pants, shape of pockets and added the patches.

Gwen-I love that suit!I can just hear "Blue Suit Boogie" playing in the background when you enter the room in that one.
(I'm horrible at remembering actual names of songs or who they're by)

Oh, RubyRed, what pattern? Is it a repro or a vintage pattern? :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

RubyRed--That's just adorable!
and GwenLake, I've always wanted a safari-type outfit. Cute!

My dream dress...well, if I ever get married, I want my dress to look like my grandmother's. It had a chantilly lace bodice with 3/4 length sleeves and scoop neckline, pillbox hat, and the skirt has miles of tulle underneath it, ending mid-calf. My favorite part of the dress is the pale pink sash around the waist. She still has her gown, of course, but it has a nice dark wine stain all down the front! And I could never wear it--she had a 20" waist.

I would recreate a burgundy silk velvet bias cut dress from the 30's that I wore to death in high school. My Grampy found it in the trunk of an used car he bought, and I wore it with everything from paper beads and indian moccasins to hiking boots.

Naive and generous as I was, I lent that dress to a girl I thought was a friend, and haven't seen that girl or the dress since 1977.

For the current time, I can't say I have any original ideas and such, but I do know that if money was no objection, I would get a repro of all the outfits I like from the movies. Especially from the '30s.

I like the drawings, and rubyredlocks, seriously, wow.

GwenLake- There should be no shame in the crayon usage. I still have my crayon "suitcase" from my elementary years, and I have been known to use them. :)

Thebadmamajama-Yes,that's it!Thank you so much.

Shortclara-I'm pretty sure it's vintage.I have a good friend that collects vintage patterns and can draw her own,but I think she used a 1940s wideleg pant pattern and added the bib.

Thanks everyone for the compliments! My friend outdid herself and this was so fun to dance in.

The ebay seller called oriental_treasure has a similar suit available, you'd just have to ask for the skirt a-line intead of pencil and the jacket single breasted -
