Dreaded Crown Pinch Hole Syndrome

I know this has been covered. I can't find the threads.

Has anyone come up with a repair for the dreaded crown pinch hole syndrome?

Old beaver Open Road, obviously handled by pinching the bash dent. Set it on top of a table lamp and noticed you can see light through small felt hole.

Doesn’t show from the outside…yet.

Any tricks to patch, reinforce, stiffen the felt in the pinch, if liner is first removed, without leaving obvious marks showing outside?

And of course handle it correctly from now on.

Thanks,

Move the liner aside, or take it out, so that you can get access to where the start of the hole is from the inside of the hat. Get a hot glue gun and warm the glue up. Spread the glue on the back side of where the starting hole is. Let it dry, then put the liner back in place. So long as there isn't a full hole, this does a good job at stabilizing the felt in that area, doesn't show from the outside, and if you have a liner, doesn't show from the inside, either.

What I have done in past is to remove the liner, cut a piece of thin, soft leather, lightly smear it with the fabric glue called "Jiffy Sew", press over the hole from the liner side holding it in place for 60 seconds or so, and you're done. Makes the area stronger than it was originally.
