Thank you for this mention! I was just reflecting sadly on the lack of Dracula related material, this close to Halloween. It seems the grand old Holiday is taking a beating these days!

Very informative, but gave short shrift to '79's version with Langella, a childhood favorite.

Thanks for posting the articles. I finished second article remembering Ben Champman who played the creature.
Female contribution to Film is generally under reported and appreciated. It is worth noting Milicent Patrick (actress/designer/illustrator) designed this classic creature along with a couple of other classic sci-fi monsters.

Film historian and author Ted Okuda, (The Jerry Lewis Films, Chicago TV Horror Movie Shows), comments on the Creature’s popularity:
"To a generation raised in an era when you can readily obtain DVD copies of full-length films, it’s difficult to explain the mystique of collecting 8mm movies that were merely fragments of longer pictures. After all, these were silent abridgements, using title cards or superimposed subtitles to convey whatever remained of the storyline. With today’s technological advances, comparing 8mm movies to DVDs is like comparing cave paintings to the Internet. Naturally, it wasn’t as satisfying as having an entire movie with sound, but in that pre-DVD era, young monster movie fanatics treasured these Castle Films digests. Being able to own even a portion of Creature From the Black Lagoon was something quite remarkable."
Film fans today are lucky to have the opportunity to see classic films any time on dvd.
