I already sent an email but wanted to ask you guys if you guys have any experience with a veg-tanned Langlitz jacket.

The only one I could find was Shipjohn collaboration Willis jacket.

Wonder if veg tanned leather is an option I can choose.

Thank you

I don't think so.
Last i heard they only have medium and lightweight chrome tanned cowhide in black and brown.
They did offer Shinki horsehide, which is probably a mix of chrome tanned and veg tanned, but the upcharge is $1200.

$1200 extra, over the price of the jacket!?

The Japanese partner I met at their shop by chance simply told me that the leather is from Himeji. He is the one sourcing ot for them.

I asked about such an upcharge and they told me that it was very expensive for them to offer as an option in short.

Carlos is correct. No veg option that I know of. They also offer more than black or brown for colours like blue, red, white, tan ect but the leather is softer with a slight spongy feel to it over their standard mid-weight.

I don't really think it's all that expensive if you compare it to what is available elsewhere. Its the same price level as high end Lost Worlds, Himel or Thedi. Of course it's expensive if you compare it to their standard cowhide, but I don't think anyone offers made to order japanese horsehide jackets for USD 1000-1500? If someone does make them, please let me know!

I would not order a jacket that cost twice the regular price from Langlitz because they would probably be twice as hard to deal with if there were any problems with the fit.

I wonder if this is the real reason for the huge upcharge for hh. I mean their fit promise. High upcharge makes orders for hh jackets very rare and if someone orders one and demands a remake, they’ve already built that in the pricing. Also, I doubt anyone would order hh Langlitz as their first Langlitz jacket, so that helps with some of the fit issues.

I don’t know tbh but if I were Langlitz I might not even offer free remakes on the HH jackets. For that kind of money using a cloth fit jacket to dial everything in at the beginning could save everybody a lot of trouble and $$.
I did not realize Japanese makers even take $2400 jackets back that do not fit
I have not had the opportunity to find out since the Japanese jackets seem to run just a bit too small for me most of the time. From what I’ve seen though, most Japanese jackets tend to be off the rack and therefore I think the return policy would come down to where you bought the jacket from and what their terms were. It certainly would be easier for a retailer to turn around and sell a returned jacket in a stock size as compared to a custom order made for a specific customer.
