Does anybody make a quality long coat?

I am looking for a long leather coat, sort of a leather trenchcoat style like you see Europeans wearing a lot in the 30s and 40s. Does anybody even make a quality one anymore? Ebay seems filled with junk. I don't see any on Aero's site. Is there any hope?

Leather Greatcoats

Those Lost Worlds look like they cost a million and probably do. I've seen
WW2 German officer's leather greatcoats on ebay for lots less and would have bid, but for their small sizes. There was also a US Navy 1940's vintage leather greatcoat with mouton collar recently, unusual. Don't recall what it sold for; it was about a size 42.

I bought a leather trench a few months ago by Cortefiel of Spain made in the 60's. OK quality, but don't know if they are as widely distributed these days. You might try a Canadian distributor on ebay for vintage leather
greatcoats...Good luck

I have to apologize for not knowing my coat history so I will ask in terms I am familiar with.
How long are you looking for? regular mid calf /back of the knee trench length or...nearly dragging the ground Matrix length coats? I have had good luck with Wilsons leather stores (or similar) and found some nice ones actually on sale. Though the longest I have is mid thigh. However my wife has one that nearly drags the ground. Black very stylish. All of which we purchased at the above described stores.

I was looking for something shorter than the full "Matrix." I would like something around calf level hopefully.

Well...without a specific picture for reference I would suggest leather coast stores at outlet malls. Most people don't prefer the heavier weighter leather coats, but those really look "vintage" and you can find some real buys. I have and have seen calf length ones there.

Bart,

Those are called M-69 Transport coats, and they are VERY VERY warm. Alpaca lined, with rayon overlining for the top half, they weigh a ton and will keep you warm as toast during the winter.
