The Hat...
Nah, it's worthless. I'll take it off your hands free of charge so you don't have to worry about it any more.

Seriously though, that is one fine hat. If it fits you, don't sell it. You may regret letting it go.
I agree it's mid to late 40s, maybe early 50s. It's in great shape for its age as well. Almost all of my hats that old have some issue, be it the sweatband is toast or moths got to it or stains or the felt is thinning...
Yours looks immaculate from the pictures.

The liner is made of silk...

The liner may be silk (or perhaps satin); however, the pic seems to show a plastic covered liner tip (the area with the logo). That usually says 50s (I believe jlee is mistaken or that is a typo. The style and other elements say 50s to me.

Take some time, however, to do some research at www.thehattedprofessor.com. He gets into distinctions in logos, sweat debossments, etc. It seems to me the blue logo in the tip, along with the coach logo on the sweat, are good clues. I just can't remember exactly what clues they are. The Professor's site should help you considerably.

I have a couple of 1960s Dobbs with the plastic inner tip liner, so it seems to have lasted into that era...

Greetings Blatz et all:
Any way to post the manufacture’s stickers behind the sweat? That would help some to nail down the age. Dobbs did some funny stuff with colored tip crests. Combined with sweat crest and manufacture stickers probably could get pretty close to age.
What about the “Gay Blade” model? It’s not common. Anybody know it’s manufacture run?
Be well. Bowen

Mr. Bowers would be the definitive judge.

Unless the pictures are deceiving me, I see a clear plastic covering over the liner. IIRC, these are more common in 60's hats, and maybe started showing up in the late 50's. Earlier hats typically would have an oilskin covering over the top part of the liner.

Here's a 60's Dobbs stingy I own:

Here's my Gay Prince with an oilskin liner:

I tried to find the full size pic of the liner, but it's locked in photobucket purgatory.

The felt looks wonderful on that hat, Jared. And the brim and bow finish gives it an unmistakable look.

Yup. If we could see the reorder tag, I'll bet we could nail it better.
