Dobbs Bedford

Hello All,

I just picked up a Dobbs Beford. I got it because the price was right for a fur felt (44$ with shipping).

The only problem is, rather than being pith helmet stiff, its as soft as de-boned kitten.

Anyone care to recommend a process or product to stiffen my hat up so it holds a shape better?

I can't really imagine why you'd want a fur felt hat as stiff as a pith helmet, but there are several brands of hat stiffener available. I would check western clothing sites such as Sheplers.

I'm not trying to turn the hat into a helmet, but a bit more structure would be nice. A wind puts the brim into my eyes...

First of all, there is no "uploading" of photos. You have to put the photo on an outside service, then link to it here. Try getting an account with Imageshack or Flickr.

Second, try Kahl's hat stiffener spray. I've used it. It's worked for me.

Thanks. I thought if it was my size, I might try to trade you a firmer felt for it. Hate to see it sprayed with anything! I guess I like soft hats...... Anyway, too big for me....
