Hey..
Guys do you wash your hairs daily.. The reason I ask is because I do, every morning I shower and wash my hair, Though I read that washing it everyday can be bad for it, removes the natural moisture of it or something and you should only wash it every two days. Is this true and am I really damaging it by doing this?

I have found that when styling my hair via curling, etc. it's better to not shampoo my hair every day. If you can test out what your hair does when it's not shampooed every day and see what happens!

I'm with Red - it's best to have your hair a little unwashed when styling, but not dirty and smelly. I like to wash mine once every 4 days or so.
It really does depend on your hair type and scalp though!

I used wash my hair everyday but after gradually lengthening the times between washings, I now I wash mine every 5-7 days. My hair definitely feels better when I wash it less often.

I wash with conditioner only every four to seven days currently. I love that I can be out of town over a long weekend and not even take any products except a travel size can of hair spray.

I find that the original techniques work quite well for me. Wash at night, do a wet pincurl set with setting lotion. When I don't wash I pincurl dry at night (takes me five minutes on pre-curled hair), dampen the hair slightly with wet hands and wear a shower cap while I brush my teeth and wash my face. That's almost like a steam set with the heat from my head and just a little moisture trapped under the shower cap. It would probably set really quickly, but I don't know since I always sleep on it.

If my hair looks greasy in the morning I use a small amount of dry shampoo, which gives me heaps of volume plus another two or three days to go without a wash.

I find that 40s hair is pretty low effort to pull of that way. It would be much more work with daily shampoos.

Has anyone tried using bar shampoo? I bought a bar on an impulse, then read about 30 pages over several days of the long hair forum's thread about it. It seemed that one had to use a vinegar rinse after using and that conditioner would serve only to gum up the works. Since I have very dry, kinkyhair, that made me apprehensive, but I gave it a shot. Horrible! I waited four days, wanting it to get some of its own oil back before washing again. Last night, I put in an oil and yolk mask for a half an hour, then washed with the bar, rinsed with vinegar, then used my regular conditioner. My hair feels amazing this morning, but I did so much to fix it that I'm not sure what did it.

So, does anyone else have any experience or tips. I bought JR Liggett's original formula, by the way.

I wash my hair 5 times in a week and for healthy hair I use shampoo and conditioner according to my hair texture, take adequate amount of proteins through daily meals and have nutritive meal plans. I manage stress with regular workouts and have proper sleep.

I usually wash every other day.and on super active days it's every day I use a leave in conditioner, sulfate free shampoo, no hairspray or other styling products and try to use curling irons as little as possible. I am a distance runner and do spin classes 4 -5 times per week so its necessary to wash often. I can't stand the feel or smell of dirty hair and scalp. Yuck.

I usually wash every other day.

Same here.
I have short hair, and the weather is making it un-clean if I leave it unwashed longer. The idea of me going to work with my hair oily, dusty and... ughhh.. :nono: I like control. If I can't control everything (no one can, right?), at least I can control the way I appear. :D

During the fall and winter, I'd say every fifth or sixth day, but during these humid St. Louis summers two or three times a week. I tried that "no-poo" method some years ago and gave up after I began attracting flies.

I just wish I knew how to keep a pin curl set going for more than two days in a row. After that it's side combs and if the frizz has really taken over, then the back hair gets put up in a chignon or a gibson roll.

I shower every other day. I use a volumizing shampoo and moisturizing conditioner that do the trick. My hair is wavy and thick and doesn't get too dirty, but I usually always use a powder dry shampoo from Lush between washes. It keeps my hair oil-free and makes styling updos a lot easier. Doing this keeps my hair soft and healthy; if I washed every morning it'd be dry and coarse. And, like others, I don't mind the second day grease because it makes doing my hair much easier. If it's squeaky clean I can't get it to do anything.

Unfortunately my hair has taken a bit of a battering over recent months as my job as a swimming instructor means that 4 days a week Im in chlorine for a few hours and then immediately need to shower. Thus, my hair receives the double mistreatment of chlorine and multiple washings. Ive tried as hard as i can to protect it, using a leave-in protector before going into the pool and doing oil treatments once a week or so but all the same my hair is pretty fried. Luckily, as I'm moving away in a couple of weeks I'm no longer working there and my hair gets a break! From now on, I'll go back to washing it every 2-3 days.

I used to wash my hair every other day, but it dried out my hair & made my scalp flakey. Now I wash my hair once a week, my hair is in so much better condition & the flakes have almost gone away entirely (and I'm saving a fortune in water use, shampoo & conditioner). Sometimes I'll use a dry shampoo (or just cornflour) towards the end of the week.

After doing some research on hair care, I'm currently trying to move away from frequent washing and leave as long as possible between washes. Also hoping to get the hang of using more natural shampoos. :)
