A very interesting theory indeed and something I am going to ponder. The mind is indeed a very fasinating topic :)

Yes it is. I think about some of the well known math wizards and individuals such as Hawkins. I also think how odd it may be, they could be so "smart" about some things, but maybe would not last 30 minutes on the street in down town New York? Also why one person could almost instantly understand some serious physics problems and other people cannot learn it if you spent 10 years showing them an easy problem and going over the steps to solve it a few hundred times?

I tend to also "link" some things into the middle of all that as a topic, as to what happens if seriously an individual from some other "world" from another part of the universe would be able to show us with some really advanced knowledge? Would we be like an "ant colony" to such an advanced person? Look how long it took mankind to discovery electricity! It was there we just had no clue!

How odd you should say that! I was thinking along the same lines this morning. Maybe those Einsteins where sent to Earth on a mission. Maybe those smart people are two old souls combined together to form that one person....

I take it you believe in life beyond Earth? (UFO's)

Yes I do. The Universe is so very large for one. The modern science "brains" that have been on a study of topics such as worm holes, the fabric of space and such, other dimensions that over lap our own...I think it is more than a possibility. Also there is some person experiences of at one time while in the Military having witnessed and photographed a "UFO". It may be that there is a greater "connection" to some of these things than what we could or would guess.

Also in the 1960's there was an "event" if you want to call it regarding a "new school" that was built on the outskirts of the city I lived in, in California. The school was built and new, not opened yet. They had the majority of "utility" workers and cleaning employees at this new school a few days before it was to be open for the school year. This story made the local news and papers at the time. The school had hired a 27 year old janitor, and as he was inside the janitor's closet (which is similar to a utility room), he was locked into the room, by no known mechanical means, they could not get the door to open and it was a steel door. He was shouting to the people outside of the room that the door had closed with a slam and shut on it's own. The power to that room went out and he really yelled for help that he was being attacked while in the room.

People there called the fire and police department, and they eventually hammered the hinge pins off the door and then pried it open. The Janitor was dead in the room, and they said when the door was opened that a hard gust of air blew past the fireman close to the door opening. They also stated that it looked like this young janitor had been blown up, but there was no indication of any form of explosives and it was being investigated. The school never opened. I watched that school building get demolished a few years later and a small strip mall was built on the property.

Yes I do think we have not yet learned as much as we can about things of the "unknown".

Holy crap! thats spooky!

I believe in other forms of life too. Why would there be other planets and such if there were no other life forces out there???

I would have eventually attended that school had it opened, a junior high school wasit's purpose, but they left it and boarded it up and eventually it was mowed down.

There has to be so many planets out there it would take a computer years and years to calculate them all.... I think it would be short sighted on the human race to think we are the only "gun" in town (the universe).

And there are those things called, "Rods"...they may be UFO oriented, or a by product of some issue with film, but they really do not know yet....

Yes. I think if that school would have been opened for children to attend, it would have been very bad news...hard to say what may have taken place, kids blowing up, or perhaps being overcome by some evil or unknown forces?

That appears to look very much like some of the videos that have been about those "rods". Some have been photographed by fighter pilots around the world.

Buddhists have long held the believe that we are born again and again in a cycle called samsara.

Highly experienced meditators claim that past life memories can be accessed in deep meditation. And very auspicious Buddhists can supposedly recall past lives in or out of a meditative state - indeed, this is previously how each newly reincarnated Dalai Lama has been located (possessions of the previous, dead Dalai Lama are presented to children who are asked to identify their old possessions).

Do I believe it? Let's just say it's a working hypothesis, but, so far, there's no solid evidence for it at all. There are lots of very interesting anecdotes though.

Reincarnation as a concept is ingrained in many, if not most world religions, including Christianity (ie, the resurrection of Jesus - and several others in the bible).
Though, just because it's pervasive doesn't mean it's true, of course; it might just indicate that people the world over struggle with their own mortality.

I guess we'll have to wait unto we die to find out! And I'm in no rush!

I believe in other forms of life too.

Given the size and age of the universe, mathematical probability suggests that other life forms should at least be possible.

Hawkings believes that should aliens exist we might not want to run into them...

"We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet," Hawking said.

Light rods

Anyone who has worked with cameras and film/shutter speeds will see this again and again. It's to do with with light reflection and motion blur - tricks of the light. I believe many people have demonstrated the most famous cases to be just insects.
The same goes for 'light orbs'. I recreated dozens of 'orbs' at a monastery and an 'orb specialist' was convinced that they were otherworldly.

This may sound funny but... I believe it is in our DNA to have "Class" or to be Classy People. We can all look not too far back in our families and find one or many people who impress with style. Personally when I was a teen I hated hats suits and such because I did not want to be my Dad or Grandpa. In 1975 I grew my hair wore the clothes of a rocker. In 1980 I joined the Army and that began to clean me up a little. In time I began to change I believe it was growing up. Then oneday I looked in the mirror and I saw my father my grandfather my uncles my great uncles. You know becoming them does fit me, it looks right it feels right. I can not go back to the 1970's rock and roll rebel without a clue look anymore. My youngest son who is ten already has the suit the tie the hat and refuses to change his standards.

Hi all
I am a Buddhist, have been for a long time so past and future lives for me are a reality - not a possiblity.
Even as a small child, growing up with non-faith parents I always believed that I had lived before. I used to have strong feelings about places I had never been and was drawn to certain cultures (Romany for one).
As I have gotten older I have felt that I was in WW2 somehow as I have always been terrified of air raid sirens ( we have them in NZ as fire sirens in country towns) and old bombers scare the bejeezus out of me, to the point of me having a panic attack. I once lived by a museum and for a while couldnt drive down that road as there were planes displayed. I am very drawn to Germany - so possibly lived there I guess. As I became immersed in the vintage lifestyle I naturally drifted to the 1940's as my favourite asthetic.
My son as a small boy has had a couple of odd incidences.. The first time I learnt how to do Buddhist prostrations i came home and showed him - he told me in no uncertain terms that i was wrong - and proceeded to show me how they should be done, even down to the detail of the longer you can stretch your arms out the better.- I asked back at the Buddhist centre and they told me he was absolutley correct - that they had showed me the abbreviated version only.
He used to only want to get books out of the library on WW2 - then one night scared me by saying " When I close my eyes I can the see the soldier with the frightening eyes".
Also the first time he drove past his Marae ( Sacred Maori meeting house and area) he pointed out that "Is where they do the singing". He was tiny and had never been on a marae or seen it on TV to my knowledge.

So they are my stories, I personally embrace the fact that I have been here before and will be again, and for me it explains so much. Of course the idea of rebirth is inextricably tied up with karma and as Davidrapheal pointed out, Samsara, so I use it as a basis for living a good life and not creating the negativity that would ripen in less fortunate rebirth's in the future.

I just watched the film Midnight in Paris and it reminded me of this thread instantly. I fell in love with that movie and it touches on "Golden Era" thinking and how many people consider the earlier generations to theirs, superior.
