Nutty public library patron, no pun intended

Well, he isn't wearing any pants, although as stated in another thread, he is wearing a shell.
Downtowns used to have peanut shops that sold fresh peanuts and had a live Mr. Peanut roaming around. Best of both worlds. My mom and dad were librarians at the central Atlanta Public Library and one of their patrons was employed as Mr. Peanut. He would inform anyone that he was not just wearing the costume, he was Mr. Peanut.
