Just checking out various pics of khakis and I am wondering do u general fedora lounge public tend to wear khakis with a crease or without and ironed flat ? Surely if combining with an old sportsjacket and shirt a crease would look better and less casual while still casual enough.....what do u think ?

Yes.

All of mine have creases and I am not 80 years old. ;) Just about all of mine are pleated, too. I will agree on no crease on jeans, ever!!!!!

Ahh! There you go! Surely pleated 'Khakis' are a different ball game, called Chinos and then should come creased on purchase.

Thats the rule of thumb. If its flat legged on purchase then it stays flat legged.

my answer is: "D", all of the above

My answer comes from a military perspective.
Aboard ship, we had what were known as "wash khakis", which did not require a crease. These were a working uniform for Officers and Chiefs in cases where they might get dirty.

For all other purposes, a crease was mandatory.

I like Mikepara's rule of thumb though, and that's probably an excellent guide.

I think if you looked at pix of Admiral Halsey or Admiral Nimitz, you'd see they were creased for a few minutes at the beginning of the day, but thoroughly rumpled in short order. The ideal look for khakis is to have the faintest hint of what was once a crease tangled up among the nice healthy All American rumples.

This is a brilliant forum. I really dig some of these answers.....but to get back to my question....my original WW2 khakis look great with a crease and no I aint 80 years old either but my BR Khakis look better without a crease. So does that prove anything ????? Probably not. Think I am getting addicted to this forum and my wife thinks I am surfing porn on the net.....ha ha

I have the same problem after a few hours on the Lounge my wife gets curious. I hate to lie but when she asks "Are you still talking about fedoras and hats?" I say "No, it's porn, really." and hide the screen.
I hope she hasn't caught on. Uh oh, she just got home. I better sign off.

Mine do start the day with a light crease (Yes and a light sprinkle of strach) then it does fade as the day goes on.

Since I do not dry my cotton items in a dryer, most will have a crease.

The only exception is jeans.

I'm old and need to have things explained to me.

Define 'khakis'. A colour named after dust used as a plural noun?

Alan

I'm confused, too. Who is "u," and why do we care whether they wear creases in their trousers?

Is it shorthand for these guys?
