Do coat rack hat hooks ruin hats?

A tennis ball, punched through with a small knife and placed on the end of a coat hook works very well. With kids and dogs, we had a large inventory of used tennis balls.

I purchased this vintage hat rack recently. Seems rather different than the usual ones I see. With the shape of the hangers, I’d think that whatever issues may (or may not) arise re potential damage from a hook should be pretty minimal if not non existent.

Reviving an old thread.
So I have some hats on hooks like these

And I have 4 of these hooks that have been sitting in boxes for 4 years, that I was thinking of using for my hats.
I'd use the 3 biggest ones, which are 2 x 1" diamter, 1 x 0.75" diameter, the last one which is tiny 0.5" diameter I'd use to hang my brushes.

Do you think that'd be fine for the hat? Not just fine since that's broad but a good way to store/display?

I asked a coworker to print me 4 of these 3D printed ones, have only 1 so far, they are wide and great for hats but just not that pretty to look at when I remove the hat, whereas the above 4, I currently have
