Dita Von Teese ~ worst-dressed lists

Hello everyone

This appeared on a UK website

Dita Von Teese thinks Europeans appreciate her retro
look a lot more than her fellow Americans but in the
end, she doesn’t mind because at the end of the day,
she likes her vintage outfits and corsets.

She said recently: “I’ve got a collection of
worst-dressed lists from magazines that I’m on and
they’re all in the US, and a bunch of the times I’ve
been on the best-dressed lists and they’re all from
Europe.”

“I feel more comfortable in a Fifties slip with a
couple of holes in it and a stain on the front than in
a pair of sweatpants with ‘University of Whatever’ on
them.”

cry me a river..

I think she is merely kissing butt for the European market by knocking American tastes, which I agree are bad.;)
Many celebrities do that when in a foreign country.

Dita once explained to a friend that the worst-dressed lists offer much more publicity than the best dressed lists. Why? Because a person can be put on a worst-dressed list week every week, whereas no one gets put on a best-dressed list all the time. The bottom line for Dita is: publicity is good. The more the better.

The mugshot's real. The charge: exposure (hey, he's done worse).

I agree. lol Vogue did a spread of their wedding earlier this year, I think. Did anyone else see the pics?

I applaud her for doing what she does. If you're not thin, trendy, and mass-marketable you don't get much exposure. Whatever she says or does to get publicity it doesn't matter because it works. She dresses vintage and doesn't follow the herd and yet everyone knows who she is. The lady's got style and I bow down to her lol.

I like Dita ~ she has impeccable style. I too think Manson is not the most attractive man, however he is a quite intelligent man. I have read some incredible articles he has written about society, as well as some pieces written in response to some of the issues that have occurred that has reference to him. He isn't all that he looks to be.

I absolutely love Dita. I think she is gorgeous and honestly, she's my role model. I went to her book signing and she's so tiny and impeccable looking! Such amazing style, and she's undeniably sexy!

One day, one day I tell you, I will be the next Dita Von Teese! ;)

She's all you said. He's appalling. At least his image is.

Then again, a male pop star couldn't begin to make it as big as he has by cultivating a 40s matin?©?© idol image. Not even some of the time - people would just think was in the closet.

True: I read what he had written in reply to something - possibly the uproar over the Columbine shootings. It was very intelligent and down to earth.

Now don't get me wrong, I like Dita - as far as I am concerned, she is the closest thing to female perfection that we have today and I'm quite fond of her husband too, though I detest his music. However, I find Dita's attitude toward sweatpants a tad hypocritcal seeing as how she allows her name and image to be used on sweatgear that is sold on Caf?© Press. I've read her decrying sweat clothes for all, not merely for her. If the latter was the case, I wouldn't have a problem with it but to publicly say that sweats are clothing of the devil (my words, not hers) and then put her name to a range of them, smacks of nothing more than money-grabbing hypocrisy.

And Marc's right about the negative publicity. It often works in one's favour. I wasn't CEO of a PR firm without learning that! :D

Dita once walked by me while we were both at the Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica, California. She languidly looked me up and down and breathed out, "Nice suit". Don't know if I'll ever forget that moment ...

I mean what do they expect, she is not mainstream, she is a burlesque performer. Of course Dita is expressing herself with whatever vintage she prefers. I think she looks great, and I love her comment about the sweatpants. Jealousy, that's all it is. Dita is a very sexual person and Europeans are more likely to be attracted to that.
