Check out this late 50's CASUAL brand beauty. Unworn, but ribbon a bit faded, what the hell at $3 I can handle it.Can you see how the weave is heavier about an inch out from the join and then gets finer across the brim?
The paint on this is virtually mint as well, and apart from a slight bend here and there will restore a treat. IT's a 7-1/4 so a touch too big but nothing that can't be fixed with a couple of strips of form guide. A fine start to the year's hunting.

brim 3" wide, crown height 4" so it's a 2" ribbon, I Like it!
Don't know what the fibre is though, but like the other two similar ones I have, it's been painted. no doubt for waterproofing, i'm sure there's someone here who knows more about this.
