The Aero looks suspiciously artificial to me. You just cannot have this kind of fading with the wear and tear.
When I visited the Horween tannery, Skip told me that they can control the 'fastness' of the top coat so that it will wear at a faster or slower rate, depending on the customer's wish.

My shinki has a light brown base, but the seal top coat is not going anywhere in a hurry. The tan's come through on the zip area and around the collar, but nowhere else.

That's more my kind of thing. My Dustbowl is Horween Bison, which has worn in just a couple of spots (where I carry a bag) to a sort of coppery-colour, mostly on edges, which looks pretty cool, but the extend to which the DD is worn isn't for me - I'd be looking to redye at that point.

I know many here like the look of brown showing through black . . . I agree that it is a cool look. Nevertheless, I prefer the pure black look. I wore my RMC Steinbeck today and relished in the unadulterated black color.

I like my black to stay black too, for the most part. There will come a time when I'll have to doa redye on most of them, I shoul think.

That is clever. Presumably the old Aero blue/black goat was designed to go very quickly, much like the one DD has use on that jacket. Great option to make available as clearly there are a lot of folks want it.

When John Chapman dyed the Shinki for my jacket, he started with a darker base (seal) so that when it ever wore through the undertones would be subtle. Your order sounds like it will be very nice!

Ok, I've changed my mind. Again.
Put in the final order!!
SHINKI Horse Hide, Dark Tea Core, Bordeaux dyed, covered in Black.
I'm a happy boy.

That sounds really interesting. When is he making it? I'm following this one with great interest.

I think he’ll be making it soon. This or next week I suppose.
I asked him to take 2 or three photos of the making of the jacket. I just thought it might be very interesting to many of us. However, I can competely understand if he won’t.
I’m just so incredibly excited, it’s hard to put into words!

It's a good feeling! I got about 8 pics from Langlitz when they made my jacket. I really liked that touch. I specifically requested that I don't see the finished jacket until I opened it though. I needed to retain a little bit of mystery.;)

A-1, I hope you realize that you will need to be showing pictures for the next couple of years until we see the full wear-in and ultimate color of your jacket. :)

Thing is, I’ll move into the country, where there is no internet at all. Maybe early in the morning when the wind is right and the sky is clear..
But you know, I’ll do it anyway! Posting pictures, I mean.
