Denim Jackets - New or Vintage

Minutes ago, I saw, that Levi's got a new nice colouring of their type III-jacket and it's nearly the colouring, I always wanted, the whole last time. A darkgrey-stonewashed, called "Fegin".

So, I will check in department-store, next time, if Levi's now corrected the curious skinny-fit (without elasthane) of their actual type III-jackets back to type III's classic slim-fit.

Crossed over to the dark side, I guess...

I have a River Island 'vintage' black denim jacket that I wear a lot. OK, its not a vintage Levi... but I love the fit! Will post a pic one day ;) Also have a brown corduroy denim jacket, thats a great summer wearer.

Selvedge-Denim worth the money?

As with anything else, it all depends on whether it's good selvedge denim, and how well constructed the product made from it is, how good the fit is. I wouldn't pay a premium for selvedge alone myself - given that the sole visual difference is on the ankle at the seam of yer cuff. Has to be vastly superior overall. I do pay a lot more for decent jeans now than I did back in the day, but I certainly won't pay the sort of money most Japanese selvedge can command.

Now there's a thing. I feel like I oughtn't like this, but I really really do.

Presumably if these are all off heddles then they will have all started out raw? In which case these are some right wicked fades.

I dig the white stripes, too. And yep, they've all started out raw. There's a photo of what the jacket looked like when it was new and what's it like now. Just look for jacket + fade, it'll turn out plenty of results.

I love this Oni jacket.

These look kinda funny when new, the texture reminds me of an apron but they end up looking sick after some wear. Though if the internet is to be believed, this denim isn't particularly durable...

Some very nice details in that Wrangler. I suspect it might have been the inspiration behind the Helstons Cannonball from last year. (I'm very keen on the HC, though would want to try on before I bought in case the waist is too tight).

I thought of you the other day, found two really cool, actual, high end motorcycle trucker jackets. Both are armored, made from some crazy tough fibers that apparently can't get chewed through... And they both cost a lot. But I really love that Saint jacket.

The Rokker Jacket I've been looking at on and off; it is pretty cool. Not cheap, as you say, though I can see the money in its functionality a lot more than some of the high-end denim Type IIIs I've seen in the past. Lovely jackets, sure, but for a very basic denim style some of them are well beyond what I'd pay!

Never seen the Saint before - nice jacket.
