Hi guys,
I've been eyeing these off for some time. Made in Portland. They look great. They aren't cheap, but I think they are a reasonably classic style, and would get a fair bit of use.
My question is, does anybody own one? Is there anything similar by other makers that you could reccomend? These are $295USD

I have a different Dehen wool jacket and it is of amazingly good quality.
The wool is very heavy and dense, the knits strong, and the snaps good.
I can't seem to find a picture of a similar one on the Web, though, and I
am too lazy to take one right now.

Warmer than any leather jacket I own.

They look good. The problem is I'm a 48, a serious sumo size, I don't think the Japanese market is ready for me yet. For some reason I've gone right off Schott. I've owned a few of their leathers, and really was a big fan. I bought a couple of their flannels last winter. They were made in Pakistan, and the colours were really washed out, nothing like the vibrant colours on their webpage. With crazy international post it wasn't worth sending them back. I can't recall ever wearing them to be honest...

The Schott one is made in China and so are the RRLs'. Size 48 is indeed a problem. I guess Dehen has its edge. I can't help but think that the non-Japanese vintage repros have set their price too high and their pricing is probably based on the Japanese repros price when the yen was crazy high. With the yen coming down, the non-Japanese brands pricing seems ridiculous. I have looked at Dehen's N-1. It costs 173,000 yen and it is similar spec to the Spiewak and Pike Bros waxed N-1 and not even made of Alpaca wool.

Your a rockstar Mike. They look great. Have you used these guys before?
Not Mike here, and I don't have one of those sweaters (not from lack of wanting, just lack of $) but I have purchased from those good folks before. I have a cap and jacket and a few shirts from them, and my wife has bought a ton of stuff. Their customer service is exemplary. Everything we've got has been well made, some of my wife's dresses she's had for 13 or 14 years now and they're still rocking strong.

Thanks DH66....
That's better than I can do as I have NOT bought from them...yet.
I love that you can customize your colors.

That's all great info guys, thanks heaps...Dehen don't have much stock at the moment, and it's about a 6-8 process for an order. 50% deposit up front. I actually like that as it doesn't feel like I'm forking out $300 in one hit! I'm waiting to hear back from the other guys re custom colours and actual weight. The Dehen weighs over 3 pounds, so it's obviously heavy duty kit, and again, that really appeals to me. I will keep you all posted.

There's a button for English at the top of the page. As I was looking at this thread, it dawned on me that I have an old RRL sweater with wide black and white stripes sitting in the bottom of a drawer, and that I hadn't seen it in ages. So I went in and dug it out, only to realize it's a kind of fluffy cashmere and not quite filling the bill for the bad-ass biker, Lee Marvin thing. Nice, though.
