I was just looking at the thread regarding Cooperstown Baseball Caps, and this thought occurred to me. My late father-in-law was a talented semi-pro athlete. He played semi-pro baseball in the 20's ("Daniel, the toughest pitcher I ever batted against was Satchel Paige" yeah, Pops, you and every other batter he ever faced). He also was a DROP KICKER for the Frankfort Yellowjackets in the NFL in 1928 and 1929 (when he was 16 and 17!). They won the championship in 1931 and went bankrupt the next year. So, I was wondering, does anyone have any particular favorite sports teams that are no longer around?

The Staten Island Stapletons, who finished dead last in the 1932 National Football League (which comprised 8 teams, 3 of them in greater New York).

The Fort Wayne General Electrics of the National Basketball Something in the late 30s. The players actually were employed in the local GE factory and got $5 extra per game.

Hey Dhermann1, do you recall the name of the Baseball team?

He lived in Bristol PA (as In Bristol Stomp, but 50 years earlier), which is why he played for the Frankfort Yellowjackets in the NFL. I have no idea what baseball team it was. It was probably when Satchel Paige was barnstorming, tho, so it might have been a pick up team. Maybe an amateur team in the Philly area. He also played against Ty Cobb. Pretty cool.
