My neighbor put her tree up before Thanksgiving, as do a lot of people who are having company. I wait until the first day of advent to start putting up decor, take down at epiphany.
When do you all begin?

Traditionally we put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving. It comes down around, I don't know, Valentine's Day?

I'm enjoying seeing everyone's decor. I feel like a slacker... have done one thing only - I put Frosty on top of the radio & plugged him in.

He's from the late 40s & lights up with a little bulb.

What lovely decorations everyone has! I have a passion for vintage Christmas items. :)

If a noob might jump in and share some stuff, here are a couple of pics from past years (I haven't been so energetic this year).

Thank you, imoldfashioned. It's one of those reverse-painted glass ones.

Gee, I'm glad I posted when I did - my poor Frosty would look extra pathetic if squeezed between scotrace's and Copesetic's wonderful displays.

I have the same snowman! He's missing his Christmas tree, though. My mom grew up with him.

Fabulous, everyone! I am very glad to see how some of you decorate!

Copacetic-you have some really good stuff. Love those aqua bottle brush trees!!

I love how we have all managed to combine old and new together into nice displays. Pink, your tree is very cute!! :)

That little fella also was made to light up a bubble light. I have one like yours, bought when I was crazed for vintage plastic Christmas things. He makes a great statement all by himself. I collect those reverse painted Art Deco frames too...I love 'em! Yours is quite lovely.

Thank you RedHotRidinHood!

sweetfrancaise, my grandparents had one, too (also missing the tree) - that's why I like him so much. My mom has theirs now, and she found this little guy for me.

Not sure why, but this has been the toughest year for decorating for my wife and myself in our almost 33 years of marriage.

We drug out our boxes of decorations, and then they sat on our living room floor for over a week before we even opened them up to see how they fared over the summer.

I even proposed just propping the tree box up in the corner, put a topper on the top and call it 'done'. At least that was over ruled....but with our girls grown and gone, it's been tough to get in the 'spirit' of putting much up this year.

We finally got around to doing it last Sunday, and it looks nice....but it's been a really interesting 'feeling' this time round, and my personal favorite holiday is CHristmas!

Strange.:(

Regards! Michaelson

I picked up these Scottie dog ornaments for my tree at Hollywood Regency Vintage while I was working Sunday. We still haven't put much up though.

This was my festive morning coffee, I'm counting it as decoration.

I finished the mantle tonight.

The creche is a family piece, a combination of at least 2 different ceramic sets made in Italy probably in the 1950's.

I bought the larger pieces on ebay. They are all chalkware, made in Germany right after WWII.

I'm totally jealous of you folks who have real fireplaces. :(

Here are some of my vintage decorations.
Here is the front of my house (it's really raining here so this is the best angle I could get without getting wet). The snowman in the window is one of those plasticy melted together things. I don't know the official name of them but we call them "popcorn decorations". I have quite a few of these of different holidays. And the string of lights was my grandparents and I believe it's from the 60's. The balls are filigreed with pretty flowers with red lightbulbs.

Here's our tree. I crocheted the garland. I have a small collection of vintage ornaments. I love the elves that hug their legs.

50's sheer apron. It has gold metallic dots all over it and jingle bells on the tiebacks.

here is my $1 yard sale 50's candle. i love it!

The small santa is a music box that rotates. His beard is real rabbit fur.

That punch bowl is lovely! I love the runner and the tray too (is the tray modern or vintage?).

The tray is 50s vintage. The pine cones & natural stuff are also on a vintage tray (pinecone pattern). My son (almost 3) helped with that and also put the ornaments in the punch bowl. He only broke one, so I count that as very good! ;)
