Now if a trim fitting more flattering jacket that makes you look like a rockstar is what you want
Isn't that what we all want? Nowadays, you choose a leather jacket because you have an idea in your head. If I want versatility, there are now much better alternatives.
it's not going to draw attention and nobody is going to look at you like you're wearing a poorly fitting jacket.
It's enough that I know it's not a flattering jacket. Again, if I want something inconspicuous, I'll choose something else. But at least in Europe, A-2s are no less conspicuous than other leather jackets. Maybe it's different in the USA. Here you will probably be asked if you have looked at too many top gun ;)
And of course the jacket has to fit perfectly.
It's only people in the jacket community who have hangups about how A2 jackets fit.
I wouldn't say that. Depending on the environment you're in, people outside the TFL also notice what you look like.
But anyway, OP has registered here and that's it for him. Before registration, a non-flattering jacket would have been possible, but not anymore. LOL

This is just my opinion as somebody who appreciates the A2 for what it is.
I'm not an expert when it comes to general fit, so while I don't think most of those fit concerns apply to the A2 I would suggest that anybody who does should take the advice of others over mine.

If you're really worried, maybe look into finding a shop with jackets you can try on and take pictures to ask about here.
Plenty of members here can tell you which jackets are a good aesthetic match for you.
Yeah, I think trying on is definitely the way to go. Any experience with the actual leather. I found what appeared to be a great price Aero A2 but it appears to be steer hide on closer inspection. I believe this is not as good as horse.

Yeah, I have realised my error as now when I get a jacket there will be fit pics and judgement

I have seen a cracking condition A2 on ebay but it is steer and not horse. Guessing that is a no go?

I don't know why that would be a problem.
A2's were and traditionally are Goatskin, so I being a basic steerhide instead of a premium horsehide doesn't seem like a problem to me.
