That is a great scene. A great actor who will be missed. I also liked him in Lasiter playing the Scottland Yard Detective.

I love that movie! But really, Hoskins never gave a bad performance. A solid character actor... who was also a great leading man when it was required.

I had a subscription to Mad back in the sixties. Its influence on nearly all comedy that came after simply can't be underestimated. Veeblefetzer!

Mad Magazine shaped my young mind growing up in the 60's. Hmmmm.....never thought about it but that explains a lot!

Seriously, the satire of Mad was unparalleled.

Jazz vocalist/actor Herb Jeffries has died at the age of 100. A performer with an astonishingly varied career, Jeffries was a smooth Crosbyesque crooner in the thirties, made a series of low-budget African-American-oriented westerns as the singing "Bronze Buckaroo," appeared as a serious jazz singer with Duke Ellington's band, and was still performing in cabarets as recently as the 2000s.

Right after hearing about Angelou I read NYC designer Massimo Vignelli passed away. Massimo designed the famous Bloomingdale's brown bag and a NYC subway map.

I was just posting about him when I realized you beat me too it. His biggest hit was "Flamenco" which he recorded with Ellington and Strahorn.
